GOP Debate

It's Newt time in South Carolina!!! No luck for the state controlled media with the Marianne saga huh!

Newt did himself a lot of good when he stood up to CNN during that last debate. While Romney continues to smile and look nice, Newt continues to display 'True Grit' and that's what the conservatives and Tea Party want, someone who will look Obama in the face and say "BULLSHAIT!" Getting interesting....

Looking forward to tonight's debate in Florida.... should be good for some righteous conservative bleating, and general repub bombast.....

I just hope they can keep from giving Obama any more ammunition than they already have, and remember what the real goal is.

While Newts problem with ex wife was topic of the day it was as Newt put it dispicable for John King to start the debate with it. Newt got a righteous standing ovation from his response. And then next day John King was defending himself saying it was the right thing to do. Neat gave it to him good and I applaud him for that. Mittens as Warchild calls him  would not have come back as good.

Therein lies the problem for Mitt. He's too nice. He has tried to run a clean campaign saying vote for me because this is what I stand for. I applaud him for that. But unfortunately unless he starts slinging some crap onto others it's not going to get him very far.

You don't have to tear down the other candidates to get your message across. Mitt does need to turn it up a notch, but he needs to go after the real and only target - the failed policies of the current administration. Be the bigger man and don't sling mud on the other candidates.

The only problem with that is he is running 2 races right now. He can throw all the mud in the world at Obama but it won't mean a thing if he is not on the ballot in November.

The thing I find funny is how much is being made about his tax returns. The only reason I can see that being an issue is to prove he is not paying his fair share. This could be a slippery slope for the GOP candidates because it leads directly into the argument of the rich recieving to many and unfair deductions.

As long as he isn't cheating on taxes I don't care how much he makes or pays.

I think the percentage that Mitt pays is going to be an campaign issue with the left and will play well with the uneducated. It's not an unfair deduction when he's already paid the personal rate to earn the money in the fund in the first place, and because of his wealth he doesn't enjoy many of the tax breaks that other less fortunate American's currently enjoy.

Mitt probably pays in percentage much less than most, because most of his income is capital gain. What people don't usually realize is that capital gain comes from the buying and selling of stock or stock funds, i.e., capital that was previously created mostly AFTER taxes, not income for labor or services performed. And 100% of that capital is at risk of a loss (just ask anyone whose been in the stock market the last 3 years). I have paid taxes on capital gains on my meager securities fund, even when the fund LOST 50% of it's VALUE over the year. It's taxed at a lower rate because the INCOME that created the savings fund has ALREADY been taxed at the personal rate once - when it was earned in the first place. In fact, the Capital Gains rate IMHO should be LOWERED as it encourages saving and investing. The more I can save the less burden I will be on society when I age. But, this election has already been lined up to be about class warfare.

I agree, as long as he's not cheating (which ticks off the Tea Party just as much as the Left), it shouldn't be an issue. If he's gonna run for President, he should know that eventually they are going to have to be released. Release them now and get it over with so that it's old news when the real race begins.

Perhaps there are good reasons why Mittens hasn't been forthcoming in releasing his tax information thus far..... there may be something in there that Mittens KNOWS will torqued off the middle/lower-class voters....

Now, I am sure it's all quite proper..... I am sure he hasn't done anything illegal. It's the perception among financially-hurting Americans that Mittens is going to have problems with.

But just because it's legal, that's probably not going to assuage most of the voting masses, knowing he pays so much less percentage of tax than the working stiff does. And if we learn that Mittens has been "gaming" the system by moving millions of $$$ off-shore in the Cayman Islands tax shelter, coupled with the accurate stories about Romney's "Vulture Capitalism" are repeated enough in the media (that is: lots of money was legally made at the expense of people's jobs and retirements), well..... Mittens is not going to look too appealing to unemployed/underemployed Americans.

:dunno:

Moving unreported income to the Caymans IS illegal.

If anything, it's going to be that his effective tax rate is under 20% because it's all capital gains, and that will be enough for the uneducated to crow about.

There's ZERO wrong with buying a business and selling off the parts. There is no right to a job, and a companies first loyalty is to the OWNERS. If Bain capital bought a company, that means someone sold it to them at the price they thought was reasonable. Bain has no responsiblity to keep it running if they can make money selling it. None. Zero. Might sound cruel, but sometimes the truth hurts.

All quite true.

None of which is going to help Mittens, though.... Newt knows how to blast through all that and spin Romney's period at Bain as a money-grubbing corporate raider, stuffing pockets with money at the expense of the Little Guy, who lost his job, his home, his retirement.....

And photos like the ones below will help cement this concept to the voters.....

I am reasonably sure the Newtster will eventually flame out and take a serious nose-dive from his current popularity, and even if he doesn't do it to himself, the Republican Establishment will ensure he doesn't get the nomination. Mittens will likely get beat up by Newt a little bit, but he should eventually take the Repub nomination.

Then watch the bloodbath the Dems bring...... next summer/early fall will be pure, unadulterated WWF-level entertainment!

So the real story behind the GOP is "Job creation as long as it make the owners money". Everytime we hear a complaint about lack of job creation I guess Obama can say "It's OK because there is no right to having a Job"

Sorry, you can't have it both ways.

I think I threw up a little in my mouth when I read this...

So, the Dems "Real Story" is "Create jobs that Don't make the owner's money"? How crazy is that? The fact is, private enterprise doesn't exist EXCEPT to make the owners money. Most business owners realize they need people (i.e., jobs) to do that for them, and if they don't provide adequate wages in that market, they fail. If I can do the job myself and make good money, would I hire three people, pay their wages, and not make anything UNLESS there was an additional opporunity for me to make more money? So far, this isn't a Socialist system, although a bunch of people would like to make it that way.

You don't, with government policy, create a job (unless it's public sector); you create a set of conditions and circumstances that allow private employers to have a DEMAND for their product or service that makes them NEED the additional manpower (jobs) to meet that need and create additional profits for the owner DO DO WITH AS HE/SHE PLEASES. If, after income taxes, he wants to blow it in Vegas, that's his choice. If he wants to invest and create additional jobs, it's HIS choice.

If Obama said that, it would be the most honest thing to ever come out of his mouth. NONE of us have a right to a job, or a right to welfare, or a right to free health care. I could go on and on. A good dose of honesty would do this country a lot of good. Obama has failed because his policies are not creating the conditions FOR jobs (tax code, byzantine regulations, increased debt, doubt, etc.) for which he IS responsible. He is killing the goose (small business) that lays the golden egg!

Nothing like a picture from 25 years in your past to be used in the wrong context against you...Agreed, that one's gonna haunt him. But I could also show a bunch of hiphop stars with gold teeth and 'bling' that look just about as stupid - yet they are idolized by the masses....yet both are equally entitled.

Cartoon: Again, for it to be "under new management" they had to give capital to the "old management" that was agreed to in order to become the "new management" for which they have the right to do whatever they want with. If the employees want to be mad, be mad at the people who 'sold them out' (another misnomer for those who don't understand how a Capitalist free-market system works) IF there was a demand for that product or service still in the market, then that business went to someone else who is hiring or employing people, unless the market for that product or service no longer exists (example: Kodak film). Yet, this plays well into the "Class Warfare" strategy pursued by the Democrats.

Lets not get off topic, there is about $67 in that picture. We all know rappers would have about $5k.... no groupies?!?
