Were you successful in extracting them? It almost looks like there are no baffle inserts in your canisters.... that, or they are pretty deeply recessed....
There it a allen key bolt in the back of the can that looks like when you remove it the baffle will come out. But nothing would budge so I gave up. Going to run it for a while and see if they get a bit louder.

I'll try and answer all the questions at once. They are full carbon slip ons. In the installation guide you put them on loose and adjust them so they both line up. I bought the tail tidy of e-bay-loads around for about $25 plus postage-had it before i got the bike.

if not, try using the spring pulley hook you got with the cans,
hook it to the hole where the screw goes to hold the baffle in.
then give it a tug
