SOME OF YOU GUYS WERE WONDERING ABOUT THE HORNET VS A BUSA ON THE QUARTER MILE. AS I SAID MOST ANYTHING WILL BEAT A JET FROM THE STANDSTILL BUT HERE ARE THE STATS FROM MY FLIGHT THE OTHER DAY
FROM A STOP WITH ENGINES AT IDLE I GOT AIRBORNE IN 2400 FT AT 185 MPH IN 22 SECONDS. I FIGURE IN THE FIRST 5 SECONDS THE ENGINES WERE SPOOLING UP AND I ONLY MOVED ABOUT 50FT. AGAIN THE DISCLAIMER. THESE FIGURES ARE ONLY GOOD FOR THE WEIGHT OF THE AIRPLANE THAT DAY (WE CAN VARY IT QUITE A BIT) AND THE TEMPS. IT WAS AROUND 80 DEGREES.

buzz, next time you launch that thing try to figure for us the acceleration AFTER it's spooled up, please?

Does anyone know how long it takes (in seconds) for the busa to hit 185 mph?

Sounds like 'lantabusa wants ya to hold the brakes (just a little), max out the motors, then release the brakes before timing the launch...can I try?
