GSXR1000 swingarm on a busa

yea, there's a guy here who's putting a gixxer 750 arm on. another guy is tossing a bking tail on his busa

I wouldnt mind having an 09 1k swingarm on my busa, I think it would give it a more modern look.

I was going to put a GSXR600 arm on mine but was advised it wouldn't be strong enough on a track (with curves) unless I underbraced it... but then I'd need another shock, etc, and I just had mine rebuilt, so I've kept the stock swingarm.

Let us know how you go with yours...

You might be money ahead to find a 600 or 750 track bike. You might find a mod that radical may have other unintended adverse effects you cannot possibly foresee. The busa is... what it is. It does many things well. It is not a track bike for the serious track junkee. But if you have made up your mind and are going to do it no matter what..... it will be an interesting mod. Good luck and :thumbsup: for stepping outside the box. This may be a mod others will do. I would like a single sided swing arm mod without a fat tire. I have seen them. Just a stock tire with the one sided swing arm. :thumbsup:

I'm not a serious track junkie. On the track I've ridden RGV250, Aprillia RS250, GSXR600, KTM Motard, etc... I just love the Busa! :beerchug:

Put on a ride height adjustable shock.

Could be a good idea for some, but for me that isn't a good option.
(a) it adds to the weight
(b) it puts out the geometry of the bike (too much weight forward means that the back end wobbles when coming into a corner under brakes)
(c) height adjustable shocks aren't normally suited for track becasue although you can adjust height the rebound, preload and dampening limits are usually pretty tight

What in the he11 are you talking about? :laugh: :laugh::laugh:

Here's a pic of my, see that little black knob, ride height adjustable, Ohlins.

:cheerleader::cheerleader::cheerleader:

(a) it's LIGHTER than stock.
(b) The ride can be set to lower than stock, higher than stock, or stock.
(C) Racers don't use ride height adjustable shocks? Than what do they use? It has a greater MUCH range of both high and low speed compression as well as a remote preload adjustment ( the stock shock has a very limited range and no high speed compression damping).

The great thing about ride height adjustable shocks is it separates the preload from the ride height.

Almost all street bikes are set tail high on the track. So I wouldn't worry about a raise in the rear contributing to instability in a already VERY stable bike like the busa.

Sorry Ken. I misunderstood.:banghead:

I was thinking ride-height adjustable = "air-ride" sort of adjustment, not an Ohlins or Elka racing shock... :thumbsup:

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

It never occurred to me you would think I meant an air-ride shock.

You are right, that would be a disaster at the track. :laugh::laugh::laugh:

Re: GSXR750 swingarm on a busa

Was in the garage recently running across the 750 swingarm I bought back in 2000 or so. I never tackled it.

Anyone have a lead on a thread involving a completed AND functioning 750 swingarm on a Gen I Busa?

Missing that 929 alternative (I sold).
