I have used these guys in Dallas, McClellandGun.com and these guys in Plano, (Gunmaster Inc. - Plano, TX) Gunmaster - Home. I think McClelland's would be a better match but both have done good work in the past for me.

Regardless in todays market it will take time or money. Actually both.
I waited on a Noveske 10.5" 5.56 barrel for about 3 months before I was able to catch one come in stock. Good builders are swamped. I sent a 22 conversion off to be threaded the end of January. I called this morning to make sure they did receive it and it was logged. She confirmed it was there and they were quoting 4-12 weeks on work.

Might be a bit far for you but, jim at Erie Ordnance Depot makes some killer AR set ups, he's done both my M-4's and a pair of AK-74's and my YUGO pistol, great guy, very funny.
I really just need the upper assembly built for a .308. I can buy the upper for it but the barrel is the problem. I want to have built a 30" left hand 1 in 10 twist barrel. Stainless steel and ceramic coated black with a threaded supressor on the end. I can get a 24" barrel like this but its backordered for over a year and I need this in about six months for a competition with another guy. Any thoughts?

30". The upper assmbly i want is from DPMS. Its their .308 24" SST bull barrel assembly but I cant wait a year for it. I need this either made in a 30" or if someone can get ahold of this upper for me ill go with the 24".
Krieger was the other name I was thinking of. But I think you might have a hard time finding something that long. Might call White Oak also.
Regardless, It doesn't surprise me to hear 1 year on delivery. Parts are hard to get right now.

Look in your local gun boards. Have cash ready. I'm seeing quite a bit of stuff showing up. Many are spending more money than they can afford with the current scare. Next thing you know they are selling what they can to pay the bills.

i'm in the beginnings of an AR build myself. Just waitin for the stripped lower to come in. Got "in" good with the dealer so he's gonna hold one for me once they come in. Its a stripped lower but it'll allow me to build very custom. I'm gonna get a complete upper tho from midwayusa with the 24" bull barrel c/m, flat top upper, haven't decided on my break yet tho

OK if I put in an order for this DPMS Panther .308 and it has a one year wait what happens if Obama puts a ban back on them? Will I still be able to take delivery or will producion stop until the ban is taken off? I dont want to place an order and wait six months then find out that I cant get it anymore. Im not familiar with how the last ban worked or whats been look at now. I need some help understanding this.
I dont want to drop $3000 on a rifle I cant get for years.

I think this is why we are seeing such a run on lower receivers right now. Since the ATF classifies it as the firearm, many are trying to beat the ban. Component manufacturing could be limited under the new ban who knows. We really don’t know what could happen. You might consider getting a lower now. But this is the same thing that is fueling the buying frenzy.
Seems to be quite a few DPMS Panther 308s on Gunbroker. There is a lower there for $400 also. I hate paying the premium stuff is bringing right now.
