Gun - Kote

Hey folks,
I have waited for awhile to offer but I have had tons of Harley guys lately needing my services and they seem very pleased. I offer a service of color coating. It is a VERY LOW BUILD coating that is sprayed on and baked. Unlike Powder coat it is super low build, withstands 500 + degrees and is designed to withstand 7 years of salt water spray. I have sprayed complete motor case, Bars, levers, bla, bla and also have a high heat good to 1300 degrees. Since my main business has ben guns I'm still trying to calculate prices on bike parts but I will work with you. I have about 40 colors but can get about 30 more and can get custom colors mixed.

Do you have pink?

I think I speak for a lot of people here on the ORG, but how much do you think it would run to get a gloss finish on the passenger pegs of the bike?

Hey Brother,
The problem with using a finish like that, is the likelihood for it to wear on the high points rather quickly if actually used. Firearms finishes generally aren't really designed for true abrasion. They are normally more about chemical and moisture protection. As an example, my rifle is coated in Ceracoat, a much harder finish then Duracoat. If you look at my barrel, from nothing more then being inserted and removed from a Eberlestock Gunslinger Scabbarded Backpack, the forward corners of the barrel are completely polished through the finish to the base stainless barrel. This happened in probably under a hundred insertions and removals. That's just from contact with soft nylon. Can you imagine what hard rubber, plastic, leather, coated in road grit and grime would do to it? Think rough grit sandpaper...
Just some food for thought...
Respectfully,
Harry

So if your doing foot peg hardware the 500 degree stuff is fine right?

I might be interested in a price quote on front and rear pegs and hardware in a flat black type color.

Wear is actually pretty tough on this stuff. I use it even on the inside of the actions, slides etc. so it does wear well. As far as foot pegs, sounds like you are asking about the stock peges with the rubber pads. Probably could do for $20.00 + shipping back home. Have lots of it out on harleys no complaints yet.

Almost forgot to answer donnief, duracoat is much thicker like regular paint and can be removed with reducers and other chemicals. Gun-kote is low build and once cured there is no known solvent to remove.

Specopscout your right that eventually everything will wear with constant contact, even hard chrome. This is also true with powder and other available products. I am familiar with ceracoat but can't comment on its durability because I havnt used it on my own to test over time.
