Steve, I have been talking around to see what kind of response I would get on a good performance shop in the area. I have talked with about 20 or so people and everyone would be giddy to have a shop with a good builder-tuner in the area. The thing about starting up in this area is getting a reputation built. Several people also asked if you could build and tune bikes. If a man could do both that would supplement a mans income till he had his rep built in the area.
There is a man that you might want to talk with when you get up this way. He is very big in the car scene up here and has a huge following in the area. If you could get a good name with him the word would get around very quickly. I would also recommend taking something you have built to the track a couple times. Hope this helps with your decision.
