Had enough Ford. Gonna Sue Ya!

Tom, I understand how you feel. I had different problems with my 07 F150. The passenger side exhaust manifold kept warping, creating an exhaust leak. Ford replaced the first one under warranty, but told me I would be responsible for the second one as the truck was out of warranty. I was also quoted $800 for the spark plug change. My dealer, Shawnee Mission Ford, took the bull by the horn, and replaced the exhaust manifold, AND replaced the spark plugs at no cost to me. My 07 had also developed the dreaded cam chain noise associated with the 5.4 V8. I have been in the market to replace the truck and looked at Dodge and GM trucks. When my trade in was bid, the trade allowance was way below what I felt the value should be due to the cam chain noise. I went back to Shawnee Mission Ford and talked to the GM and they traded me out of the truck. Gave me a good deal on my new 2014 ecoboost, put a ton of $ in my trade in, and made the deal. All automobile manufacturers are subject to recalls and problems. That's why I feel it is important that a person develop a good relationship with their dealer. A good dealer can make things happen. When I do a car deal, I want a good deal, but I don't beat on the dealer to the point they make little or no profit. That will make a difference down the road if you need their help to resolve an issue. Sounds like you have finally found a dealer that gets it, and I hope they get things worked out for you. By the way, I LOVE my new 2014 F150 ecoboost!

And while I agree with this. The dealer really shouldn't have to step up on a defective product or have to fight the very Company they sell for. Make the best deal you can and be loyal if you can. I have moved twice in the 8 years I have had my truck. Through no fault of anyone. The fact that this dealer is stepping up says something about the dealer because they are being the EXCEPTION and yes it does make me want to use them if I am ever going to consider buying a Ford product again.

Man don't get me started on new trucks. I kinda drool at the new stuff. I rented a Dodge Ram while my truck was laid up. Very nice ride. But at 80K miles I have no reason to get out of what I have. Now I just think about how much I can trust this engine I have after all of this.

Today we are supposed to talk again about this. Fingers crossed.

I had a 2007 F-150 5.4 Triton V8, 100k did the whole expensive kit and kabootle...

8 new spark plugs/coils/boots, 3 broke and had to be drilled out.
100k miles full transmission service
100k miles Ford service interval performed.

total cost approx $1800.00

108k miles blew the seals on the motor, started knocking on me and then just shut down completely.

Engine codes threw 3 bad cylinders/low compression

Turns out Ford put in an undersized internal Oil Pump in the 04-07 F-150's that wears down overtime and blows the motors as I experienced.

So 8k miles after a rather expensive tune up the motor is toast.

I am at Thoroughbred Ford in Kansas City where I have bought 3 of my last 4 vehicles all from the same salesman Lawrence Detty. I am sitting outside the dealership smoking and just pissed off a the whole situation trying to figure out what to do. I run a Saltwater Maintenance Business and this is my work truck, I can't afford to be 1 day without a working truck.

The Service manager comes out and lets me know that it will be about $8k to put a new motor in the truck and get me back running, maybe a 2 week turn around time. At this point I still owe $14k on this truck with a blown motor that now needs $8k in repairs that I don't have...

I do the math and see the trade in value of my truck is only $14.9k so I would then be $22k in debt on a $15k truck...Bad deal all the way around not to mention I don't have the 8K laying around to pay for the motor...

I continue to sit outside the dealership smoking and fuming at the situation, this older gentleman comes outside for a smoke and we get to talking, I let him know my situation and whats wrong with the truck, I let him know that I have bought several vehicles hear from the same salesmen and am pretty sure that I need to just replace my truck and be done with it but I'm worried they wont give me anything for it due to blown motor.

After I unload on this older gentleman he proceeds to introduce himself as the owner of the dealership, lets me know he appreciates my business and understands my circumstances with my truck, the damage and my need for a truck. Asks me to wait a little while longer while he goes in to talk to the service manager and my salesmen.

About 30 min later my salesmen Lonny comes out and says OK we have you all taken care of, just come back to our finance guy and well get you on your way...

I'm very confused but follow along, the owner of Thoroughbred Ford took my blown motor truck in at Full NADA Retail value which was $17,9k which paid off my existing loan and left me $3k towards my new truck. The auto show had just been in KC and they were giving back a $1500 Auto show Incentive they added on so plus Ford was running a few other deals that essentially took $5k off the retail of the new truck.

My employer at the time let us get Ford X-Plan pricing so i was able to get a 2013 F-150 XLT SCrew with the 6.5' bed identical to my 07 out the door reduced from $44,5k down to $36k which kept my payments the exact same as I had been making and only added 2 years onto my existing loan.

I could not be any happier with how my transaction took place, I feel that Thoroughbred Ford went way out of their way to satisfy me as a customer, they understood the impact of me not having a vehicle and they knew the 04-07 motor problems, they even told me that Ford corporation would do nothing to assist me.

They have made a customer for life....

I really hope the family owned dealership you were referred to gets you taken care of and that you can get back on your way with a working truck...if not the new Eco Boost's are SWEET...love mine...

Damn you guys and your new Eco Boost Schmeco Boost. Bastids. I am NOT going to buy a new truck. I pay cash for my vehicles and I have no desire to drop the money on a new truck. I've been eyeballing a Lexus, so don't get me sidetracked with this Eco Boost love affairs.

Damn you both.

Shut up.......

And this Oil Pump story, I have heard somewhere before. Man I don't need round 2 here on this truck.

Honestly man, I would ditch this truck as fast as you can to get away from future problems...get it running right, then sell sell sell before anything else breaks...

I am actually holding off on buying anything for now. I am being considered for an overseas slot and the last thing I need to do is start buying something I need to dump soon.

That is why I have been holding off buying a new car as well. I forget I am being considered as it gets quiet for a month. Then they call me up and start dangling the carrot again. Then I remind myself, don't buy anything cause you won't be using it long if it goes through.

I'd rather sell than store so that may solve itself if I take the position. I'll dump everything but my Busa. Build up my 2019 truck fund and come back to the new Mag Lev Technology.

You sound like an expert on the issue, and it certainly carries a lot of weight in your pleas for help. It's always best to try and resolve it amicably; however, it wouldn't hurt to consult with an attorney with expertise in automobile design defects and "lemon" laws. The most important point is to understand your rights and to know when a lawsuit would be time-barred.

Already there. I am prepared to bring suit against Ford and Continental Automotive, the maker of the injectors. 2 separate suits both for the same amount of damages. They will end up spending 35K to fight maybe not having to pay 4.5K. This step at the dealer was going to be well documented so the courts could see I attempted to resolve it amicably by all measures reasonable. And he already knew I was ready to bring suit.

He is doing the right thing. But I did not hear from him today as expected. So I will wait til Monday and see if I have to call or not.

Good on you for stepping up the the plate and demanding what is fair.

My Wife's Expedition has bubbled paint on the hood and rear hatch. Took it a Ford Dealer for warranty repair / repaint under their 5yr rust free guarantee. Claim denied because it didn't rust Through. Well the truth of the matter is that it will never Rust through because those panels are an aluminum composite. Aluminum doesn't rust, it corrodes ... two different terms, therefore claim denied. Had them both repaired at my expense of only $400. Ford lost thousands because they wouldn't honor their word. My new truck is a Dodge Ram 2500 HD Crew Cab Long Bed. . I will never buy another Ford Product again.

I hope your situation works out best for you. At the end of the day, it looks like the dealer is actually doing what is right, Not Ford. Remember that when your next buying opportunity comes into play :) That kind of Customer Service needs to be shared and rewarded.

Should he dealership not have the funds ... You definitely have a winning case. Take it to one of the largest Law firms in the area and they will file not only a case for you but I would not be surprised if it doesn't turn into a class action Suit. In the meantime, you will be paying for the repair until the case is settled ... a decade from now

This is much better served by 2 small claims actions. One against Ford and one against Continental Automotive. Each for 3,000 max allowed here. I'm out 4,600. Takes about 60 days to get them heard and highly unlikely they will wish to show. And if they do, courts are very unfriendly to attorneys in small claims matters. So the plan would be small claims, subpoena as many names as I see fit, for both companies, and expect they'd want to settle before incurring the 15 or 20K it would take to show up in Alabama and go against a local judge, a local voter, and local mechanics that will be there to testify. Settle, neither side admitting anything ever happened and I go away. Netting 6K if they both settle for 3K. I can prove I'm out the money spent. If they want to collaborate and split the 4600 between them, I can live with that.

That is how I'd expect they'd want to end it, but if they want to show up, bring it on. I have 1 bent rod and 8 fuel injectors that are going to be easy for a judge to see. With my new added friend at Ford that would now also be testifying as to what he knows about the problem.

This is moving forward. Didn't want to just let you guys think its died. Ford has pushed back to the dealer some. But basically asking him to support any out of warranty examples besides mine that he had documented in his shop there. He is preparing 6 other examples, that he did NOT ask for remuneration on as the customers paid for the repairs.

Ford is of the mind, if we don't know about this, it doesn't exist. So he is showing that it does indeed exist as a problem and I'm not isolated.

Progress, albeit tedious. To the Service Managers credit, he is spending a good bit of time on this on my behalf.

Will keep you guys posted.

Keep after it in a calm manner and you can get your way as you should.

I got Ford to buy back my 3 month old 2005 Mustang when the engine ate itself with under 1K on the odo. Ordered a new Mustang just like it to replace it. There's 14 pages of it over at Stangnet. The pics got broken when they changed servers. I had all the sad pics in the thread.

If something like that happened to me, I wouldn't be calm for a single second. I can't be calm on a calm day

Just wow...counting my lucky stars that my toys keep chugging right along right about now. The Mustang is 20 this summer and the Busa is turning 13  I don't have the patience for dealing with problems, issues, lawyers, lawsuits or downtime.

Good luck TallTom! More power to you for sticking this one out!!

Yep. Ford Corporate denied the claim made by the dealer. They recommended a P050 customer satisfaction program citing like and kind failures apparent in their shop. Noting Ford originally offered an unlimited miles TSB replacement for the 2005 model year (a fact I didn't know). Later revising it to 6 years or 100K miles. I'm well within the miles but out of the age.

So off to court I will go.

Another update for those that have interest.

Ford rejected dealers request for help. So I filed suit. Sued both Ford and the company that bought out Siemens, who made the injector. They are called Continental Automotive. I filed a request for Discovery. Continental requested a continuance and it was granted. Court was set for Jan. 29, at 9:30 here.

After I submitted Request for Discovery, Continental reached out for settlement . I have reached a settlement with Continental Automotive . I can't discuss terms but I will post proof of it. I'm very comfortable with the terms of it.

Ford has been non-reponsive to Discovery. So unless they don't reach out before tomorrow......I'll see them Friday. They owe me about 300 pages of Discovery or explain to the judge why they shouldn't provide it. I have subpoenaed the executive that signed off on the Customer Satisfaction Program. That subpoena was properly served. No objection filed for him attending. I expect him to be there for questioning. Our airport is large enough for their corporate jet to get him here without problem. So that can't be an excuse. (I'm being sarcastic on the jet part).

I have absolute proof that the fuel injector used in the 2005 vehicles are the same installed in 2006. Plus I have the owner of 2007 that has failed in exactly the same manner showing up as a witness Friday.

So far....so good.

You are a very determined man. It's crazy to see ford issues even on a hayabusa forum. I bought a '13 mustang GT that has a manual transmission that sounds like a bucket of old bolts, 3 dealerships and several days out of my car and they "can't duplicate de issue" or "is normal" sound. I took my paperwork and told the last service guy I would come back with it in a tow truck when the trans. Blows up so, that they can fix the #%££€!!!!!! I have spent hundreds on aftermarket shifters, lines, bushings and fluids to make it a little better. If you type "mt82 problems" on Google, you'll find guys with blown trans. at as low as 4K miles. I was raised around toyotas and still own a 23 year old 4Runner and 07 Camry and currently debating selling the ford but, guess what? Resale sucks too.

Anyways....... I'll be following this thread in hopes that I will see you get what you deserve from them. It'll give me hope for when my time comes. Lol
