Hahn RaceCraft Turbosystem...

Hahn's web site WWW.Turbosystems.com address 1981 D Wisebrook, Oswego,IL 60543 Phone 630-801-1417. A friend of mine with a Black bird ordered Hahns system on the 4 of Aug 2000 Hahn promised to have the system to him by the 21st of Aug. Just so you know the Hahn system in not intercooled like Mr Turbos system and I am told you have to use the stock fuel rail so the horsepower is limited to the 250 range but additional add ons can be purchased to increase that.Valley racing is currently installing a Mr turbo system on a Busa but have not yet made a Pass.

Jaffie,
The mr turbo system is not intercooled! The mr turbo system uses tyhe stock fuel injectors also. The difference is that hahn uses a modern turbocharger as per the 50 year old dinasaur that was used on airplanes.I personally believe there is more potential out of the hahn system due to the turbocharger used!
just my 2cents.

I'm not really interested in making over 300 HP at the tire,250-275 is more than enough,at the lower boost levels you can get away without a intercooler, lower boost=lower inlet temps,I guess this could be called a entry level system, the MC Xpress is more than likely the top dog kit right now,I run twin turbos on my 94 Cobra Mustang, and it is a intercooled kit.

If you read Hahn's website they mention using some kind of ignition retard system, that is a by-product of not using a intercooler, you have to retard the timing to stave off potential detonation, which in turn means less HP,the bottom line is a intercooled turbosystem will make more power with less chance of detonation and you can get away with 92 octane fuels at the higher HP levels.

Seb:How much is the MC Xpress kit???

Hahn's system is capable as delivered to generate 240Hp @7psi on pump gas and 307HP @ 12psi with race gas. The timing retard via PCII is due to the fact that stock compression is used which is the same reason for race gas. If you want to take the engine down to lower compression the turbo he supplies is capable of 400HP. I have one of the first 10 on order and they are quoting early September. My intention is to run pump gas with water/alcohol injection to allow boost levels over 7psi without detonation. I've used this system before with excellant results. If I want more in the future I'll lower the compression but, from my experience with the previous turbo bike 250-275HP is just fine for street use. You can use more boost to generate impressive dyno numbers or create a drag bike with extended swing arm but, 250HP with stock swing arm and multi-stage boost controls will be fast enough street bike for most anyone.

So let me get this straight, the Hahn system can be fitted without getting into the motor.

And will make around 250 with 95 Octane (uk standard) Unleaded Gas.

What is the drivability like - I assume stock CR means the bike won't bog like most Turbos and will retain decent drivability.

I'm interested - do you guys think the drivability of the motor is good enough for occasional use on a road racing circuit?

And is there a way of changing boost (ie turning it down) to almost zero for fuel economy when touring?

Questions Questions! :)

My question is...what does theMOTORHEAD think of the Hahn turbo? I know he has the MC-Express, but does he think that the Hahn turbo is good or not? I'll make my decision based on his input. I know, I know he's a distributor, but I need a knowledgable opinion.

i see it this way if you cannot save enough cash for the mc express kit which will cost $5,600then buy the hahn its the next best system out so far.i deal with both although mr hahns number gives me the machine evertime i called this week.you can figure about $6,700 for the mc express kit installed and dyno tuned and set up perfectly.you'll never want another bike though.so as usual it comes down to money.

I believe a 250 HP bike is more than enough for the street also, but some people want more or at least the capability to make more HP in the future, but if you had a intercooler, you could get away without the retard,Hahn will probaly have a intercooler option in the near future.

seb:drop me some info on the MC Xpress kit!
