hard acceleration in 2nd gear, engine to idle

If it slipped out of gear it would redline the motor, not drop to idle. Sounds like you have a problem with the FI. Much as I hate to say it, take it to the stealership......

Mine would pop out of gear and drop to idle like the ignition is being cut, while maintaining WOT. I think that's what's happening to the original poster.

It also wouldn't pop out until 7k or so.

There is no way the engine can return to idle with the clutch engaged and the bike in gear. The gen 1's don't have a slipper clutch.
