Hayabusa overheating?

I must let you all know I did the recommended burping and engine ice and my needle does not move past half. I used to overheat before at 60 degree Outside air temp now its 90 and its perfect. Thanks everyone!!!

Fan Switch override installed, T-stat, lower temp fan switch and engine ice all complete

My 2006 Busa is doing the same thing all of a sudden. Now I am paranoid so I just ordered the lower fan switch (180) and a new thermostat I will also change out all the fluids. I will keep you posted on my progress once the parts arrive.
If you guys have fixed your issue please let me know!!!

Thanks

My Busa turbo started doing the exact thing today after I did a coolant change. What was the outcome on fixing the problem. Also the Suzuki dealership in SA can not tell me at what temp does the fan switch start up the fan. I would like to get a switch that starts up the fan at a lower temp but if they cant even tell me the specs on a standard I am not sure how and where to find the lower switch.

If you changed coolant and the problem started, I would suggest burping your system :poke:

^ drawing from a somewhat clouded memory, i sat on the bike with the rad cap off, fired her up and waited 2-3 minutes at idle for warm up, and swayed the bike slowly left to right for a couple of minutes. i read that years ago from this site and it worked fine for me.

Mine 06 busa overheated in traffic.. Actually just idling for a long time did too. Road riding mm below centre mark. Removed radiator, straightened every individual fin from water blasting and road gunk bugs and 60,000k of use. Replaced coolant bled system heat wrapped the exhaust in lagging hooked up a fan thermo switch bypass only to discover the fan fuse blown lol replaced that and no more overheaties hahaha at all. The lagging helps reduce the radiant heat right next to the radiator and as a result takes longer to reach operating temp, lowers the temp coming out the vents and is about 3mm from the centre line. In traffic still gets to the centre mark where the fan comes on, gets a smidgen warmer then drops below the mark about 1mm, off goes fan, goes up to the line and on it goes again over and over until moving again.

After some experiments;

1. Thermostat removed
2.radiator serviced
3.changing all hoses
4. New fan switch fitted;

I finally found the culprit!....none of the above (causes my 2004 overheated, fan only kicked in after half...and stop even temperature still climbing...)

It was the RADIATOR CAP!!!...A silence not to expect at all!..

I bought a new cap with 1.3 psi cap(for a car)....and all back like a brand new busa!!!....

Tips; if you notice your spare water tank burp with bubles, slight more water when u stop the engines...it means...it is time to change your radiator cap. Simple..easy cheap....worth it!.

Now..45 minutes idling..no more than half readings on my temperature gauge.

My '06 Busa' temp needle stays at the half way mark.
If in traffic or stopped the fan will kick in to keep it at that temp.

So.... I have a 2002 Hayabusa ----

Just put the bike back to 100% stock.... when the bike had the full hindle system & power commander --- not once did the bike's temp gauge ever creep up past the center position.

So, now the bike is running just off the stock ECU and stock exhaust w/ stock air filter.

The other day --- sitting in traffic, while idling --- the bike starts to rise past center --- hits the red mark...the fan kicks in.... at which point I was on the highway and started getting air to the radiators --- and she cooled off....

So --- decided to do some testing today to make sure I'm just not paranoid.....

Had the bike up on the stands --- with a fan pointed towards the radiator.....also pulled the plastic to make sure all the throttle bodies vacuum hoses were connected and that the throttle body boots all had a good seal --- everything looked great.

Bike didn't overheat while idling with the fan on it...... I then pulled the fan.....bike after 2 minutes started to creep towards hot....

Fan doesn't kick on until right before the red mark on the gauge....

I then turned the fan back on..... needle creeps back towards normal.

So ---- first question..... does the fan only kick on --- right before the red mark on the gauge? is this right?

2 ---- I'm thinking the thermostat is o.k.... because if it was stuck closed.... wouldn't it not circulate coolant and thus not cool down EVEN with the fan running?

Any other thoughts?

or an I just being paranoid and this is a normal thing when running the stock

I have a 2005 hayabusa with the same set up. Full system Hindle single exhaust with power commander 3, but mine starts to overheat after riding for about 40 minutes highway and the having to stop at a red light for 5 minutes. Besides adding another radiator fan is there any other ways to cool this gen 1 hayabusa down?

My 06 has never overheated. The guage always reads just below the middle. The fan comes on if the needle goes over center. It only goes just over center if I’m caught in traffic but the fan kicks on and it cools right down. Actually, I just remembered. Soon after I got it, idling in my garage it got hot. Turned out the fan fuse went bad so it never kicked on.
