Headlight replacement with pics

I used the H7 Xenon Blue same bulb but prettier.. you can get it in the HB3 also. Daytime lighting is super for the cages to see you. If you can find a 65w for the highbeam wouldbe great which Suzuki calls for. Can you get to the High beam also from the Gage cluster

Maybe I can get LadyHawk to come change mine from the bottom.

This would help a Lot..

Thanks Omslaw, I just replaced both high and low beam with silverstars today.  I followed your walk thru and it helped tremendously, especially the adjustment part.  I can't believe how low the factory had set it.  I had silverstars in my car so I knew they make a big difference.  Makes me wonder why factorys don't put $20 bulbs in $10,000 bikes.

Sylvania Silverstars, highly recommended.

High beam bulb is 9005 even though the owner's manuel only says HB3.

worked good for me! I can see good at night, Finally! THANKS! Dealership said there is no way to adjust the low beam. they sid it was fixed. but somehow I got it to move up?

when I went to bigger bulbs in my superduty, it melted the wires on the pigtails. Any trouble with this on the bikes?

Will do. We need to hook up and also get GSXcite and go hit Hwy 5...

Also, WWJD is gonna make a trip down here from IA to do some riding; we'll definitely need to hook up then - perhaps a KC Meet-n-greet?

I'd like to know how to change the low beam from below... how DOES that spring work? Maybe it's not really quite that easy.

Push in on the spring on the clutch side of the bike, then push up on it. I will swing right open on a hinge then.

I have changed mine twice from below. The first time took the longest. Take the plastic cover off and reach up in there.

Excellent. That is exactly what I did, and once I realized that the spring clip wouldn't fall off, it was mentally easy. I ususally have second thoughts about removing anything without being able to SEE what I'm doing. But hey, doing this by feel turned out to quite simple.

So the job has been done. Thank you. It's actually easier than undoing a bra strap by feel...

I went through the same drill to install a PIAA bulb in my low beam only to have my low beam start flashing off and on shortly afterward. I was amazed at how fast the tech had the problem found and repaired (the adapter between the bulb and its socket had been melted by the bulb). When I told him how long it took me to install the bulb and what I dissembled to do it, he laughed. All they do is remove the right fairing inner panel - you can reach right in behind the instrument cluster and remove the bulb. Removing the windscreen makes it easier for us amateur techs but he had done that job many times and didn't need to.

By the way, you're going to find bulb life with those Silverstars to be less than you'd expect. Mine lasted a little over a year of riding and, according to my local parts house, some Silverstars are even worse. I can tell you from personal experience that the ones for GM vehicle fog lamps (#694?) last about three months.

We are here to help

I bought some xenon bulbs from ebay, in blue. They don't look super blue, but compared to the stock, they're much whiter and I suppose blue tinted slightly. I don't recall the web page, but if you look on ebay under "xenon lamps" you should find them. I changed the high and low beam bulbs by reaching up from below. No removal of anything other than the plastic dress-up piece under the nose to allow access. Kewl.

I saw the cool blue ones and decided that true white is the brightest and that's ultimately what I'm going for.
Changed them both today, just waiting for it to get dark to go adjust them.
Thanks to this post it was all a breeze.
