Heads up for "Cold Weather" diehards

I've rode the Busa in lower 40 degree temps a few times, no problems. I've rode other bikes in 30 and even upper 20 degree temps, no problems. Normal air pressures and don't get crazy in the first 2 or 3 miles. I don't like riding in cold weather because it's cold, and I don't like having to bundle on so many layers I can barely zip my jacket. Bike works fine, it's me that doesn't handle well in the cold.

thanks randy. We're still kicking it here in N.C. Morning temp is around 30. Afternoon around 40's.

I'll try that tire press thing today.

it's all about throttle control and knowing your environment......and thousands of miles of experience helps too  one of the things i am especially careful of is going across manhole covers, they are slicker than owl #%*^!!! it always seems that the transportation gods seem to love to put them right in the middle of turn lanes in intersections in small towns :beerchug:

I've shook my head a thousand times as to why they are not in the center of a lane.

:dunno:

Ok, call me a sissy but when the pavement goes under 45 degrees or so, I park the Busa...

Reason being that no mater how much I warm the tires, wheel spin is always an issue... Note that today alone there are 2 or 3 posts from seasoned riders playing tarmac tag with their bikes...

IF you are going to ride around while the temps are this low, please lower your tire pressure a couple pounds and take it easy...

regardless how far you have gone, or how hot you think your tires are, you are going to have issues with tire spin and it happens so fast you will not know what hit you...

PLEASE BE CAREFUL!!! and happy riding!! You 08 Guys now have a reason for B and C mode...

if you have one of those BMW 1200RT's disregard this ... you have traction control  sissy's

I am with you on this one. Sometimes we get 60+ days here and I will try to jump on but once it dips down to less than 45 I am done. I use the time for tune-ups, maintenance and cleaning.

Rode the other morning at 17 degrees, hands got cold but no problems with tire grip. I do take it easier in the cold though.

My first instinct is to say BS on your advice and that the mode selector is for wimps but then I'd probably go around the corner and eat pavement so I'm going to keep my opinion to myself! So there. :moon:

Pffffft!!!! C'mon, what's a little snow... think of it as just another part of the adventure....
