Heatshielding peeling off of fairing

As I was washing my 2003 Silver/Silver Busa yesterday, I looked underneath it and found that somehow I managed to receive the bike with a screw missing on the underside of the cowling.  This is the screw on the underside of the bike (right in front of the little "wing" all the way at the back) that holds the lefthand side (if you are sitting on the bike) cowling on.  Upon further inspection, I noticed that the heatshielding in this area is starting to peel away from the cowl plastic.  I am guessing that this is due to this screw missing, and the plastic flexing/flopping around at highway speeds.  Is the heatshielding actually glued completely to the plastics?  Or is it just attached in a couple of places?  Any ideas on how to ensure that this does not come off, leaving me with melted plastics in that area?  Any help is, as always, appreciated. BTW, I am going to the dealership this afternoon to pick up a replacement screw, and don't intend to ride the bike until the screw is installed to prevent further damage.

Just head over to a automotive store and get some heat shield. It's pretty cheap and in most cases better than what our bikes come with stock. Just rip the old stuff off and put on some new.

It's just 'glued' on.. clean up the old stuff and get a nice clean surface, then apply the new stuff.. shouldn't have any problems.

I bought a sheet or two of Maier heat shield that works very nice. My stock stuff started to come off also due to a gas spill I think (petrol will disolve the glue). Also my new pipe needed better coverage. Be sure to really clean the surface well or it will not stick. I used WD-40 (great for removing goo) then window cleaner, then alcohol. Let it dry then stick the new heat shield and you're good to go.
