Heli bars?

Badbus, no, no pix right now, but if you run into a problem I could steal my wife's digital and post something. You really don't need anything, though 'cause the mod is very easy.
The point of contact with the screen will be the dimmer switch on left and the shutoff switch on right. Pull the molding loose only on the bottom of screen.Decide what kind of curve you want to put into the bottom of the screen. You can make a gentle radiused curve from where the screen touches the fairing, then decrease the trim gradually in a more or less straight line, ending the trim before it starts the upward curve. That's what I did. Second option would be to do the radius, then come to the back in a straight line, taking out the existing upward curve as well. Whatever you decide, mark your trim with a marker before starting. Don't trim more than necessary, and if it takes two trims to get it right, no problem. When your switches clear the screen, put the trim back on with a little adhesive to hold it, and you are done.
As I said, you would never notice the mod unless you knew what to look for. By the way, if you get the Dremel, or the Sears clone, like mine, be sure to get the flex shaft model. Much easier to work with.

Just a quick note on heli bars;
do not use soft ties or tie down on the heli bars they will bend and heli does not replace them.went though two sets on my ZX11.

Roberto, I saw pix of the DB before buying the Sp. Tour model. Since then I have seen the two side by side. There are two reasons that I can see for buying the DB. One, it was race-track developed, and that's cool. Two, it might possibly give you another 1 or 2 MPH on top, but I kinda doubt it unless you are tiny, because the DB doesn't give any shoulder protection from windblast, while the S.T. does.
The main reason for not buying the S.T., in my opinion, is the name. Sounds like it should be on a Gold Wing,ETC. In reality, it's still quite small,little if any taller than the DB; it just has a gentle curve from the top, unlike the radical bubble-curve of the DB. Gives a little more protection. Yesterday at 170 MPH I was glad for all of the windblast protection I could get.But that's just me; different people have different priorities.
Surprisingly, I would rate the S.T. above the D.B.on esthetics. It follows the form on the fairing creases a bit better, in my opinion. Badbus, do you agree with this?

Johnny, you have touched on one of the drawbacks of a bike like the Busa. It's not easy to transport. My last bike also had a full fairing and HELIS, and I used the bars to secure it, but never on the top part near the grips. Never had a problem, and I hauled it thousands of miles. Of course I also used other tie down points, and often used the side stand as well. When I haul the Busa, I will definitely use the sidestand to assist, but I will use the bars to some degree.

Mike, you will find pix on the Heli website at helibars.com. Select,"Suzuki", then look at the TL image for a general idea of what the installation looks like. Really can't tell much, and that's the case with the Busa, also. Biggest difference appearance-wise is that the Helis are black while the stockers are silver.
Scroll down to the RF 900 bars, one stock, one Heli for comparison. The Busas are almost identical; maybe not quite as much offset.

SlowHand or BadBus,

Regarding your use of ZG ST screen:
How long are you and how's turbulence?

I'd like to have a little less windblast on the chest as well and maybe even more protection would be welcome too. but I'm a bit afraid that the absolutely turbulence free area around head/helmet with stock Busa screen and my 6'4" length might change?

Animal, sorry I missed your question. I am 5'11" and still in the turbulence-free zone, but then my bars are 2 1/4" higher than stock, so who knows?

SlowHand thanks for the feedback on the ZG screen. Since you are 5'11" and I am 5'7" I guess I will get complete wind protection from the SP and good protection from the DB. So it's a toss up between the two for me.

Ride Safe, Bob
