Just wanted to say hello and looking for some riders in the Chicago-Joliet-Morris area. Im getting my 06 this wed 05/17/06 buying the maroon colored one. One thing I will say is its great to be around riders that gear up. Ive allways worn gear even when I rode My Harley but it seemed like when I was on the road I was the only one. Just spent a fortune today getting some new stuff for myself and my son. I cant put a price on road rash though ya know. My question is do most of u use tank bras im thinking of one but not sure if I will need one how does the paint hold up. I never had one on my 929 except for the sticker on the very back of the tank. Thanks for any help I cant wait to get to know her.

Congrats and welcome! Tank bras are a personal choice for most. I started with one to protect from marking up the tank and then with with the tank pad. The bra can take away from the paint scheme especially if you have a custom job. Like ozz said they can cause scratches if you get dirt or something underneath it, but they can provide protection against fading. If you get one, though, remember to remove it occasionally to clean underneath or there will be a definite color mismatch.
welcome and congrats. I ran a tank-bra last year, and noticed it just collected dust and residue behind it. This year Im not using one, and the Paint is holding up Great. I might put some clear 3-M adhesive on if I start to notice any wear.
Ill make sure to put some pics on when shes in the garage. I just sold a 1985 Mustang GT that I used to drag race but I had to put C-16 fuel in her and she made 635 Hp 608 Trq. Awesome car but to much working on her and not enjoying it so wih the Busa im hoping to still click off some 9 second passes and have to only use 87 octane gas with alot less work also much more timming enjoying riding it instead of working on it.
