Here\'s My Story

For christmas my wife put down a deposit on the best bike I have ever ridden. I picked it up on May 15 for $9500 no tax, freight, or set-up charges. So far all I have added is a lockhart phillips tank cover (about $40). I want to add more hp and noise now but my budget is small. I think I will try the drilling in the stock pipes as stated in one of the other postings until someone comes out with a 4 into 2 into 1 system that works. Has anyone tried removing the baffles/packing in the stock pipes if so what was the result and how did you do it? I would like to get the web address for Akrapovic. I am intrested in a deep throaty noise with maximum hp increase. I am also interested in a fender eliminator kit but competition werkes says they won't have one until late this summer. Just wanted to put my name out there as I am new to this site. This is a great site by the way!!

Porky welcome to the board. As for removing and repacking the can I believe someone did the same thing for the TL1000R cans and it's posted some where on Chris's tl web page awhile back.I'll try to trace that posting down and give you the http to go to.
The site is www.cmyoung.com/tl1000r.html
I tried to find the posting but I guess Chris cleaned up the web site and made room for new posting. You might get lucky by posting it there cause the guy that did it to his TL-R cans is a frequent poster on that sight.
I believe he took a dermel tool and removed the three spot weld screws that hold the end caps then he cut a bracket and pulled out the baffels and repacked the unit and used the standard three screw holes to reinstall the end caps.Anyways good luck.

Thanks alot Cisco... I really appreciate it. I just went to a local race this past weekend and heard a TL1000R on the track. That is the sound I want but have heard it can only come from a V-Twin. This I really don't understand. You should have heard this bike it almost sounded like a suped-up Harley. Deep Low Loud and Fast.
