High Mileage on Gen 2

i expect to see some of these bikes turning 200,000 with proper maintenance

as far as tire mileage, my original Bridgestone didn't quite make it to 4k and i rode conservatively compared to how i ride now

200K would be great but my A$$ would be awfully sore and all of my metric tools would be worn out from servicing.

As far as tires, you did great. I only got 4800 miles out out the stock 015 and a 016 combined. I thought I was conservative but apparently my idea of conservative is wrong. I switched to the BT-023 on the 3rd and we will see what I can milk out of it. I'm guessing 3 to 3.5K.

Hold up. 34k and how many tyres? 3 rear and 2 front?

Yep. I did not replaced the original tires until 15k. I replaced them with Shinko Raven. I then replaced the rear Shikon at 32k with Conti motion but kept the front ones with plenty of tread left. I now have 34,892 miles but thinking of changing the front tire this summer.

I think is the way I ride that contribute to the longevity of my tires. Who knows. I must say I ride like a grandma..

What kind of tires are you running. If I rode mine 600 miles a week I wouldn't be worried about gas savings because the tire replacements would offset the gas savings I would wear out a rear hypersport about every 3 weeks. Toss in the maintenance cost of the bike versus the cager and I wouldn't save crap. If I were trying to save on the cost of my commute I sure wouldn't ask the Busa to pull duty. I would go buy me a SV650 or a DR650. With that said, I'm not trying to save money on my commute so I rip the He@@ out of it every chance I get on the way to the job.

+1000 on the tire wear. Didn't pay much attention to the upkeep in tires that would be required prior to getting mine. I used to have a 750 and the company I work for used to be owned by Continental Tires, so it wasn't really an issue in the past. Looks like I might as well plan on getting a new tire every season the way this is going.
