High speed wheelie

Just curious... I searched the forums for something on this topic and couldn't find anything off the bat.

1. What is the highest speed you can do a full-on 2 or 3 o'clock (75 degree) wheelie? I've seen some done on other bikes at about 70mph (closed track of course, and I am sure any input on this subject will have data from wheelies performed in only the safest of conditions and environments).

2. How'd ya do it?

ok..  Here goes...  The reason you got no bites is because there is a bunch of pussies on this site.

( ;

I am about to post a video of my buddy doing a 1 mile long 115-120MPH stand-up wheelie in traffic.

Here is how you do 'em...

1. Get up to 70-80 MPH in 2nd gear;
2. Stand up;
3. Roll-off the throttle fast and compress the suspension;
4. Crank the throttle on FULL immediately as suspension is opening up.

Viola.

BTW - I was only "half" joking about the bunch of pussies...  I actually think this is a VERY dangerous manuever and if you plan to do it, practice MUCHO!

I will post a link to the movie after it is moved up.

BTW - I should mention that the rev-limiter kicks in right around 120 in 2nd gear... So, you MUST be at the balance point, or you will come down VERY hard.

Also, where ALL of the proper gear. I don't even wanna tell you what happened to my "buddy" the other day during one of his 2 mile long 120MPH mingers that turned into a tank-slapper!

The Fact that your riding a Busa and have to ask... Seriously man... Means DO NOT MESS WITH IT!!!! You should have figured this out in the dirt or on a 600 years ago... Lot's can go wrong, Buy a used SV650 and put a big ole sprocket on the rear for the stunts....

3 o'clock?
i can go for hours until I need to refuel

last time I looked to my watch, 3 o'clock was flat with the horizon.

Sounds like a lot of fun actually, getting an SV650 for the sole purpose of learning stunts. I might do that.

In the mean time, I don't think that everyone who rides a 'Busa knows how to do 120mph wheelies, or has an interest. I don't (to either), and I don't see myself wanting to.

I can however, pull a nice nasty wheelie anywhere from about 70 and below. I was just curious.

So let me get this right.. you are suggesting that I:

A: Should know how to high-speed wheelie before owning a 'Busa :: because/or::

B: Most dirt-worthy bikes or 600CC sportbike can do 120mph wheelies, and they are the ones to learn on. Have you done a 120MPH wheelie on a dirtbike or 600cc streetbike lately. Ever?

Rev, we (almost) all have 'Busa here, and we are proud of what they can do. So of us are proud at what we can do on them. Some of us might be, um, too proud, and feel good "educating" others with our expansive knowledge of the obvious (that becomes, in fact, wrong).

I'm not berating you brother, I'm being overly defensive, and a little miffed that I was put into the category of newbie-rider that you effortlessly just tried to place me. Incorrectly.

Rev's point is that if you were REALLY riding the busa, you would be wheelieing all of the time from sheer excelleration. And, he is correct.

BTW - the busa's balance point is damn near 12 o'clock (even at 100+MPH). If I can ever figure out how to post this video, you will see what I mean.

Also, an SV is a seriously nice stunter even with stock gears (just clutch it up).

Thanks Oracle... I had a midget in my butt for a while there, and Rev just happened into my anger zone.

Sorry Rev.

Oracle... send me the video and I'll post it on my webpage and send you a link (it's it's smaller than 8mb).

Now, onto serious matters... can someone get the midget out of my butt please?

(yeah, yeah, I'll call him a "little person" next time)

Okie Dokie. Is midget a gender? Or do you mean sexual activities. Either way.. he/she crawled up thier on thier own... I had nothing to do with it.:O

gee when i was younger i would be the same way but from a wheeliers point of view, here goes. now i dont claim to be the best and im not but i can wheelie almost any bike that i have ridden and if its a 600 or larger then i can easily meet the speed. your trying to power wheelie, dont get me wrong the busa has it but it doesnt. you have to figure in the weight of the bike plus the acceleration factor when trying to wheelie. if you snatch it before the powerband the bike will start a hard acceleration trying to wheelie at the same time. once the powerband has peaked the bike will slam down normally the wheel wont be that high because of the ground the bike has covered and the speed it has reached. i start off all my wheelies slow has to have more control. the trick to easy and safe wheelies is shifting in the air. not hard to do and alot safer than trying to snactch up a 600lb bike at 70mph. start off at about 30mph learn to throttle it up easily and shift to second once the bike has leveled off. all bikes are the same sort to speak doing it this way. i have seen way to many people bouncing the front up and wheelies go wrong. if you cant wheelie sitting down then you cant wheelie standing up is the way that i look at it. and if your snatching the bike up make sure that your back break is adjusted properly and covered by your right foot because once the height and speed start increasing thats the only thing that will bring the bird back to rest.:D

Actually the record is 201mph for the speed

I think it is about 50 miles holding a wheelie @ 80miles per hour.

My bike wheelies at 135mph (3rd gear) 100 miles (2nd gear) all day with out breaking a sweat. 70 mph is still first gear. at low rpm

Gee give us a break... Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeowwwwwwwwww!!

I guess Im a real newbie.....lol can pull dirt bikes up and 600's but my busa I have one hell of a time getting her up once I pulled out unless when Im in first gear I just throttle it and she comes up...going down the road in say 3rd gear forget it...might be because I have it dogboned...not sure...any comments contact me..:D

I realize this is an older thread but hey I got bored and started looking around, Ive pulled mine up at 130 or so and Ive been up at 160
