my bro-in-law had one. he was out for several months. however he has always been a lazy SOB. So he is not a good measure. These days he can walk and run perfectly (when nobody is around he wants sympathy from)

Age and general health play a big role in your healing speed. Are you relatively healthy, do you smoke? Smoking slows healing by reducing oxygen in the blood. If your healthy and work hard in physical therapy you can be back on in 6 weeks, if not I would say more like 12. I didn't have a hip replaced but I have had my pelvis crushed in 4 locations along with several other bones. Just work hard in PT and eat right, and find a doctor with an impeccable record.

I have a great ortho surgeon. I am 39 and have Avascular Necrosis of the left femoral head. I find out today a time frame for surgery.

Two of my sisters had it done. Both said it felt like there was a big ball bearing in their back pocket for the first few months. And both recovered completely and felt worlds better. Good luck!
