I'm watching "The Message" (courtesy of kkattan), and I started to think about it pretty deep.

The Islamic religion was able to start because of the help of a Christian kingdom, that let them live in safety.  Islam worships the same God the Jewish and Christian based religions.

So, if you claim that you are going to kill a worshiper of any of the above religions, in the name of your God, it would be like killing one of your siblings and claiming that it was for your parents!  Claiming the God told you to kill a fellow human is using God's name against God's own.  

That would make Holy War the Ultimate form of Blasphamy!

Works for me. Funny.... as a Christian, I learned a lot, did a lot of self study also, I NEVER EVER found the parts where I should kill anyone for God. Much "death" is more of an intenal SOUL death and rebirth, "born again", but not a physical death or killing.

Most or all of the dumb things people do are based on MEN's ideas, not God's

You got that one. It's not only the dumb things, but some of the "traditional" things as well...

Religion is like high school. Everyone is trying to be better or different or something, when really there is only a few simple things that matter.
 
Religion can be twisted and turned to accomodate nearly any type of "activity or belief" that a person wants...
 
No matter what they say, people don't kill for God, they kill each other to PROTECT themselves or POWER over people

see... I think we SHOULD take about these kind of things. we learn more from each other that way. If we hide behind not wanting to offend anyone, then we never learn our differences and how to live KINDLY with each other in them.

I would guess part of the BAD GUY islamic brainwashing [keep in mind I don't know exactly which faction of which relgion is involved so I am saying islamic because that generality seems to fit but does not encompass all teh GOOD islamics for this example.. whew!] has to do with eliminating the hor that is America --- and ya gotta admit, WE don't have exactly the BEST morals on the planet --- so they are fighting to FIGHT OFF our influence [which can't be stopped and is their problem]

Admit it. We suck on many levels and if we were a society that prayed 5 times a day reguarless of work or fun or sleep, we might fight back if some other coutry started swaying our youth to embrace porn, drugs, loose living, disrespect for elders, laziness, rebellion, guns in school, pedophiles, reduction of human worth.... what sort of social influence would make YOU stand up and fight back.

As an example for me it would be "The mark of the beast" [even though we currently interpret that incorrectly] that will make me fight the system, so to speak. Granted I will not KILL anybody over it, unless there were some extenuating circumstances, like they were trying to kill me first. But I would rather die as an example, than stand with those representing everything I am against. We all die anyway eventually, I'd rather go helping others in some small way.

I am ABSOLUTLEY NOT any sort of terrorist sympathizer or any of that crap, I'm just posting some devil's advocacy opinions to tickle the mind.
 
WWJD. Very good discussion and points. A few of my own.

1. In your description of "Western Civilization" you do a good job of pointing out how we are portrayed. By whom? The media. They would all be out of business if they did show the "nice" or "God fearing" population, Christians praying, Catholics partaking of the Eucharist, Southern Baptists dancing and singing gospel music, etc.. on the news instead of the sickos. Simple a case of the bad apples getting the limelight for profit.

2. On the same front, some see "them" as people who chop the heads off americans simply because they are americans (and possibly religious, and nothing to do with the porn, etc...). So how does that make us look at their faith and religion? We never get to see the loving side of Islam unless we really look for it. Just think if the media was around as it is today during the Christian crusades... ugh...

3. I love the part about the mark of the beast. I'm not convinced it's wrong, but it doesn't really matter if it's 666, 669, etc.. Just one of those contraversies the get the pot stirring in our own religious matters. Right up there with which Christian faith is "right", how many sacraments there are, was Mary a perpetual Virgin, did Jesus have children, Transubstantiation or not, etc... In the end, they really mean very little in regards to the soul.

It all boils down to point of view and what we are presented with. Then, as mere humans, we group everyone together. It's happened throughout history, and will continue to happen. Whether the hor is the US, The vatican, or Bill Gates, everyone has their view of the hor.

I could view some of what you said (moral decay) and say, yeah, I see how we may be ill thought of outside of the U.S.  Let's remember though, this isn't just an "American" issue...moral decay exists elsewhere in the world...name one country that isn't tainted with crimes against children and the innocent, have homeless, sky rocketing crime rates, druge problems, corrupt governments and twisted judicial systems...right now in Africa, political wars rage and innocent die in numbers far greater than anyone's willing to report.  Mothers are forced to watch their children being "cooked" and then forced to eat them at the hands of "rebels"...I can't even fathom the horror in other areas of this globe.  America looks like friggin' Disney World right now...our corruption pales...

If there were other cultures out there doing BETTER, not raping and pillaging their own people, torturing women and children, brainwashing 'em and handing 'em guns expecting some 7 year old to murder those his father believes are evil, I might understand a bit more...

We are dealing with a mind set in the common terrorist where they find it perfectly okay to put THEIR OWN women and children at a weaponry site just before a U.S. military strike.  Survivors of said strike aren't even claimed by family...the U.S. is blamed for killing women and children...

Can you even begin to imagine the thought process involved in sending innocent children to a building KNOWING they'll be killed?  Your own children even?  It's unthinkable...it's insanity...it's the ultimate form of arrogance and using anyone to gain something for yourself...has nothing to do with religion at that point...

No, we're not so evil that we must be stopped...it's a lame excuse...TERRORISTS (religious based or not) have very twisted ideals, pretty much akin to Hitler...they want their own kind and will not tolerant any others.  They even kill "their own kind" based on silly lines in the sand, property and status...they hide behind religion, THEIR version of A religion...

Dare I say they aren't religious at all?  How can they be?
 
I agree with you Leg, the media IS the hor. Very good points. Personally, I havn't watched TV for over a year now and am pretty happy! Kinda clueless on current events, yet happy. how much has media played into the prejudices or misunderstandings tween cultures? As well as showing people things they don't need to see or ever learn about.

VA, very true also. I guess I was pointing out only the real obvious stuff, the poor excuses they are using. Since I have not studied the situation and never plan to bother, what IS their beef with us anyway? Enough about the 29 virgins, what is thier [terrorists claiming to be doing God's will] problem with us? Why don't they kill someone closer? Besides their own women and children... wouldn't that be easier? Yeah, we are raping their land for oil and stuff, but they get multi-billion dollar castles, goldplated cars, and desert-based indoor ski slopes... if they destroy us, won't they loose all that income? does anyone really know what the issue is?

LOL! Excellent point!

Similar to if the government does get everyone to quit smoking, what are they going to tax (or raised taxes on) to cover the trillions in income from tobacco?

didn't the man upstairs say something like, "let him who has never sinned cast the first stone"  I read nowhere to strap a bomb on yourself and blow up "sinners"

The bible does mention an unforgiveable sin, which is blasphamy or a choice to willingly deny Jesus Christ as your Lord and savor. Thats it folks the only unforgiveable sin.

I have a suggestion, let's try loving God and loving our neighbor. I'll bet you that if we all did that, all the problems would be over and there would be no more killing. Someone else once suggested that, ummm, what happened to him anyway?
