I did those template because I bought my bike in canada and the only had the km/h for the 2001 model. Since I am importing the bike, I need to show the mph tick marks.
I know I could have bought them and save myself a lot of trouble.
I did those template using autocad 14
even is I used the same increment for each arc, they do not exactly align at the top end.
The RPM template is right on the button.
I plotted them on glossy photo paper that I bought at staples (staple brand). Works greate.
I had problem with the speedometer faceplate. Since the original has a little taper at the perimeter, it made my new faceplate wave on the edges. I used scotch tape that I folded over and made a roll with the sticky side on the exterior to make it stick. I could have used double sided tape but i didn't have any on my hands.
If anyone want the cad file and start play with them be my guess.
BTW, removing the needles was note easy until I found out this: this link which show that is can be easily removed with 2 spoones.
When you reinstall the needles, that will probable not rest on the pin that prevents it from going under the 0. In the shop manual that I downloaded from this site, it tells you how to recalibrate the needles. REFER to page 7-32
