All the gauges are visible with no problem
Why didnt you just use the suction cups and window mount?
Thats what I use and it is mounted in exactly the same place, and it even rests on top of the guages a bit.
I ran the power cord behind the guages to the right and under the tank to the battery. Grounded it under the hump - to a screw on the crossbar.

Tried that on my R1, came loose to much. I keep the suction cups in the truck and have this hard wired...

Works like a champ, I do need to wear the earpiece to hear it good though. The old law dogs were out in force on the way to work but I was told they were there well in advance.

Im using the Blue LED model, and it's great. Ok, sounds silly, but I also hard-wired mine, but I ran the ground to the battery terminal (ground) = is this bad?
Im also using the suction cups, and works great, as it sits on the little edge. Problem with the above mounting pics, and the suction cup method with the detector resting on the ledge is this - I think the detector is pointing/ angeled to the ground a little, and I would like to mount an inch or 2 higher, as to get more a flatter angel. If I mount the detector higher = not resting on the ledge, the sucker makes me dizzy watching it bounce.
Looking for a used stem mount, but than again when it rains, the detedtor is exposed to the elements. When mounted behind the windscreen in a full down pour, the unit has stayed dry...sigh...
