Hot Dog

I am a Texan and I commit the ultimate "sin" of piling the kraut on my hotdog!! Love, love, love it!! My hubby and family just look at me in disgust..LoL!

Some of your dogs up above look YUMMY, I will have to try some of those combos! Never tried Pico, but I love pico and I love hot dogs...so...

Coming from Texas you seem to know alot about our FINE Chicago cuisine. Are you from this area? Maxwell Street (the REAL MAXWELL STREET) stand closed some years ago,Urban development. Often imitated, never duplicated.

Grew up in Chicago from 1957 until I moved to Texas in 1976. New the "old" Maxwell street and everything. I have very fond memories of the place. Lived on the near north side. I played in the old half demolished buildings before they build Loyola University. I seem to remember they knocked down two square city blocks to build the campus. What a blast we had as kids! Another time "The Big Snow Fall of 1967" The city came to a stop for a little over two weeks because of all the show and NO SCHOOL!!!!
My wife and I (she's from Chicago too) live just outside of Dallas. After reading this thread we had to drive to Grapevine Texas "30 minutes" to go to Weinberger's Deli. The Family is from the south side and a die hard Cub's fan.
Still great food. I had the Maxwell Street Polish and the wife had a Ploish Chicago style.
:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Yep, Made the hour and a half trip to the "City" for a few dogs. Place hasn't changed. Lined to the door and out. FastBusa, from the South Side and a Cubs fan? Thats like putting ketchup on a hot dog!??? Grew up on the South Side Th & Damen and Marquette Park areas. Sox fan always. Didn't know there was another team in Chicago until I was 11:laugh:

Yep thought so too, but stranger things than that happen in chicago! The guy that runs the shop here is the son of the guy that has the shop on the south side. He's just smarter than dad? Or living so long out of Chicago makes everything better there? I know the wife and I miss Chicago but we will never leave Texas.

Life is multilayered for Grapevine deli owner

Good story. Glad to see abit of the Windy City make it out west. What about .........WHITE CASTLES. Do you have them out there?

no white castles in the south or west.... but they have a place called crystal's.... its a white castle knock off

But for some reason not as good as "I Remember" White Castle to be.
We had a Crystal's in Beaumont for some time and it went out of business.
You can get frozen sliders (White Castle) burgers at some of the larger grocessary stores.

I love chili dogs myself...with mustard and onions...

Damn, now I want one! :thumbsup:
