How Best Buy treats military...

Friend of mine went to Best Buy to have a computer serviced and this is what happened...

Well here is the story.

I was mobilized for Iraqi Freedom at the start of the war in 2003. While I was mobilized I saw that Best Buy was carrying Alienware computers on special order. So I had my mother go into Best Buy and order me one.

Well I went to the store to take it in for repair Wednesday that’s the 24th of November since I purchases the 3 yr extended warranty.
Well I did not have the actual receipt for the purchase but I brought in my credit card statement for the purchase. Well they told me I could only get the warranty work done only if I had the actual receipt from the purchase. So I tell him that I was mobilized for the United States Army for that period and did not have the receipt in my posesion just the credit card statement for that month and that that I am only home till Friday morning and then I am going back to the middle east. Well then he tells me I quote

Well after that I ask to talk to the manager about the problem and the rude comment that was made. So he gets on the phone and calls the manager. After a few minutes I ask him if I am going to get to talk to him about this. So he tells me the manager says he cannot do anything for me. So at this time I am pretty irate so I ask him again if the manager his going to talk to me so he starts that bs saying he cant come up he is busy blah blah blah. So I stop him in the middle of that and said it’s a simple answer yes or no…then he just tells me to have a nice day and walked away.


I am just glad to see the support that we get from Best Buy

Yeah, this is a sorry ass individual. Don't know if I would make this the views of Best Buy as a whole. I actually believe that the guy may have realized his stupid remark and bullshitted you into thinking that he was actually talking to his manager when in actuality he really wasn't. I would have gone straight to another employee and asked to see the manager. A lot of times employees in the retail stores don't comply with policy because either they don't know how to enter the transaction, they don't want to be bothered at that particular time, or they just avoid customers all-together.

Very interesting... should the media get a hold of this "Best Buy" would be singing a very different tune.

Especially during the Holidays... my guess is the clerk and manager would be fired and the Soldier would recieve just compensation.

get the address and location of the store with the names and I am sure the news would jump all over this. That is if Best Buy doesn't make it right,,,,,,quickly!!!!
 
There's a reason that A**hole is working at Best Buy. With that level of intelligence and customer service skills he'll have a low-level position at Best Buy or some fast food place for years to come.
 
I have the warranty too, tell him to go to the customer service counter and they can pull all of his warranty information and print it out by using his name address. I have done this three times!!! Just walk to the counter and tell them that you need your warranty information.

I've had problems with the nitwits in Best Buy before. I filled out a complaint form and sent it in and I did get a response - an apology and a gift voucher. Hopefully the "sales assistant" got chewed out also.

Did you get the name of the numbnut who insulted your friend? I think he should be fired. After all, if he can't treat people with respect, he should get a job that keeps him out of the public presence.

I'd like to apologize to your friend for the response he received, and assure him that there's a lot more of us out here who hold him in the highest regard for the contribution he's making on our behalf.
 
Man that just chapps my backend........it's bad enough if anyone was treated in that manner let alone someone who is fighting for our country. As a Vet. I can admit to have had problems with some people over the years. While I respect their freedom to have their own personal opinion I DON'T think that it belongs anywhere in the work place.

Best Buy will not get any more of my business. Your experience added to mine last week and it's all over. I just don't understand how people in the customer service arena feel they can talk to customers like that.

I for one won't stop shopping at Best Buy over this incident. It's not like the store is owned and run by all the offspring of Hitler. I've dealt with an imbecile on one occasion (and after a complaint the next day he no longer had a job there) and knowledgeable friendly people at other times.

No business has complete mind control over its employees...the people that work at Best Buy are INDIVIDUALS that come from all walks of life.

That said, if I was standing in line behind that fellow and overheard the employees comments I would have made a big ass deal out of it to the point a manager would have no choice but to show up with security. Make sure the crowd that gathers around knows exactly what was said.
Stage II would be staking out the employee parking lot waiting for the punk ass hippie ##### to leave work.
