how do you get bike on rear stand?

I have the rubber tab version of Handy Stands and I think they're totally reliable subject to the precautions below:

Be sure that the tab on the right side is between the swing arm and the rear brakeline before you lift it, so you don't squish the brakeline, which would be bad. I hoist my Busa myself. I put a 1x4 piece under the sidestand so the bike leans only slightly to the left, thus minimizing the distance where the left side of the stand bears the entire weight of the bike, and to minimize any momentum that might force the bike to a right side pitch, which would be bad. I also use two small pieces of 1x4 to block both the front and rear of the front tire, so that there is no bike travel when the stand is temporarily on its wheels as I'm pushing the stand to the ground. If the bike should travel forward while it's on the stand wheels AND said travel would raise the sidestand AND I had to abort the lift because the bike was running away from me, it would fall down go boom and cost much money to become pretty again and that too would be bad.

I too have the yellow Suzuki rear stand but I do not have the guts to try to do it myself.  It's just too darn heavy.
It's really not a risky operation.  Here's how I do it with the yellow Suzuki stand:

With the bike on the kickstand, I align the rear-stand so that it's at the same lean angle as the bike.

Put roll the stand onto the leftside spindal.

Using your body weight, slowly push the bike over until it falls onto the the right-side spindal.  Because the bike is basically upright through this, it's very well balanced and doesn't take a lot of effort.

Once it's being supported by both spindals, use 2 hands to lift her up.

It's really very easy and doesn't require much muscle or balancing doing it this way.

Do the reverse for lowering it.

I have a bad back and can do this with ease.

I have a set of the Pit Bull stands and they really are steady and sturdy when the bike's on them.  But getting that damned front one's pin on the bottom of the steering stem can bring out the four-letter words!  I have to take it in under the fairing at an angle off to the left about 15 degrees and then guide the pin into the hole while lifting the stand.  Doing that by yourself is no picnic.

But then, perhaps I'm going about it wrong?

I like the board idea, too.  I've always had my wife steady the bike while I put it up on the rear stand, but she's not home today.  I want to wash the bike this morning and was just thinking about how I could get it on the stand when I read this thread!

Easy way. if you have done the hump mod and have the grab bar on, just hold onto the grab rail as u put the stand under and just steady the bike and then lift it up. (granted i am a bigger person so holding the bike is a little easier for me)
