I have the rubber tab version of Handy Stands and I think they're totally reliable subject to the precautions below:
Be sure that the tab on the right side is between the swing arm and the rear brakeline before you lift it, so you don't squish the brakeline, which would be bad. I hoist my Busa myself. I put a 1x4 piece under the sidestand so the bike leans only slightly to the left, thus minimizing the distance where the left side of the stand bears the entire weight of the bike, and to minimize any momentum that might force the bike to a right side pitch, which would be bad. I also use two small pieces of 1x4 to block both the front and rear of the front tire, so that there is no bike travel when the stand is temporarily on its wheels as I'm pushing the stand to the ground. If the bike should travel forward while it's on the stand wheels AND said travel would raise the sidestand AND I had to abort the lift because the bike was running away from me, it would fall down go boom and cost much money to become pretty again and that too would be bad.
