HOW HAS YOUR BUSA CHANGED YOU?

Hmm lets see...how the bus has changed me.My friends give me hell because I am lots faster then them. My ex wife is very happy cause she`s still on my life insurance policy. My friends at work think I`m an sugar for doing 190mph(so far).I am board stiff with cages and wont even consider racing caged 1/4 mile anymore. Anything under 100mph is slow.I look at hot rods and laugh...I look at Harleys and wonder "Why the hell would anybody in there right mind"
I have a continueous urge to ride my bus.I look at my bus and say "Damn thats one mean looking sombitch".And most of all I`ve become very religious...Because I need all the help I can get to stay alive and if I do bite it I want to get in.lol.

GSX1300rguy: I came upon a nice group of bikes on the highway yesterday...a TLR1000, a V-Max, some racy Harley low boy thing, and an R1.

They were moving slowly, dicing with each other, and I proceeded to move through their group respectfully.

As I was moving through them, they all started the usual darting etc. I passed the lead guy and the R1 came out after me. When I saw him coming I pinned it and let The Beast take me up to 320 clicks, past dump trucks and God knows what. At about 280 I looked in my mirror and saw the R1 guy close but wobbly...his headlight was wobbling.

He shut it down and pulled off. I have since heard from people who have ridden R1s that they're unstable at higher speeds.

Why do I tell you this?

Because when you said you piss off your friends because you're lots faster than them, I figured you'd relate.

The Hayabusa makes me feel humble.I feel the way the US felt when they developed the H-Bomb.I have the power and I can use it when I need it.I just feel sorry we had to use it on Japan, but I guess they weren't sorry when they bombed Pearl Harbor. At least they made good electronic goods, camera,TV's,cars, trucks and Hi-tech motorcycles for us to buy.

Hey Pete! All that stuff happened to me when I got the TL 1000 R...but today I raced in the steet twice , reaching an indicated 145 with ease in heavy traffic on I 95 in NJ...I was hopeing to find Falcon COP 161....put on 920 miles today, tried for 1000....beat the pnants off two seperate CBR 900RRs on the highway...just sat on her and twisted the crank...been in three major cities today, and they beat the hell outa my 'Busa worsen my knarlyest backroads...maybe this should go under the 'good cop" post, but two seperate cops didn't (try to) bust me today...one at 2:43am in a backwater at 20 over and a NJ trooper who din't go for a CBR and the Busa when we stafed his position at about 130 or so but did come flying out and nailed a sub compact with a yuppie in it! Is that a good cop or what? That NEVER woulda happened on the TL (maybe they though I was 161...is that impersonating?)...yea, I'd say the 'Busa has changed me, and that I'm geting used to it, even set soft...but is this good? Hang in there , old timer, check out the bulldog boards if you wanna see some real poop...this board is pretty focused...and thanks for the info about the settings on the Busa...they will be tried on tuesday...but at the 190lbsetting...(I bet a moron couldn't have told me that)

well the busa has changed me back into a teenage speed freak 175mph most times i go out in the uk the filth take very dim veiw on speeders such as me (only on main highways do i speed ) i find my reaction s have smartend up. even when i drive my car or van.i look every ware at traffic lights etc more so than ever.i was always with it when driving but now im focused completely
plus i laugh alot when out with tossers in cars trying to blow me of unless its a f40 i dont even take it seriosley. i think my friends think i need help as a night of entertainment to me is watching the fastbikes vid with the busa

How has it changed my life? hmmmmm. Well my penis is now 13 inches long... seriously, I had sold my last bike a while ago when I first moved in to the Boston area. I promised myself that I would buy whatever was the top dog motorcycle. Well you all know what that is, and now I cant get this stupid grin off my face. I ride at least 80 miles everyday. Just keeps getting more fun as the miles go by...

Jafeica...you are referring to the Mach 2 Carnage video, correct?
Does that video rip or what?
I'm trying to get that video, but it will probably take a while...states.
Who ends up winning between the 4 of them?

ZX12,
The new V-eight Norton, My uncle (Norton dealer) said I should be receiving mine this summer, very expensive though he guesstimates 30-40big ones, oh well.

Remember the song "I can't drive 55"?? Well, with the Busa it's "I can't drive 75"!!! Honestly, it's really hard to stay patient in even 80 mph traffic because the bike is just loafing along. I just wanna blast past all those brain-dead cages and be FREEEEEE!!!

Now where's my medication? Must...control...throttle...hand....arrrrrgghhhh!!!!!

Teamhayabusa,
You are a lucky man to obtain a machine like that. The pictures I have seen are stunning and the motor sounds very interesting. Any idea as to how I can get info on the engine layout. A magazine article stated that the 8 is essentially two in-line fours on their sides?

ItellyaTurtle, don't take this personal-like, but I'd have some reservations about tossing $40 large at a Norton...even though (and maybe because) I rode a Norton for 10 years.

If it were Triumph, OK. They've more than resurrected themselves. But Norton's been hit and miss for a long time and I don't see any sound basis for their new bike in technology, engineering, production, management, field service or racing experience.

Yes it's probably the most beautiful bike I've ever seen.

But what if she don't pump air (make HP)? Or handle at least safely? What if there's a parts problem...there IS likely to be one of those.

It's a radical bike from a weak manufacturer. The Busa is a non-radical bike from a strong manufacturer.

You could lose your 40 bucks, or 80% of it if the bike doesn't cut it.

Buying the Busa blind wasn't as much of a risk because of the backing of Suz and their track record. Norton is BETTING THE ENTIRE RANCH on this exotic, and if it doesn't go over, there'll be NO resale value and NO company to back you up.

I don't know if the Busa has changed you much. But if the Norton isn't right in the head, it WILL change you plenty.

Just being cautious on your behalf, Turtle.

Some one posted the Norton web site a while back. (Search?)

I believe the Norton nemesis has a 60-degree V-8. Displacement is 1500cc. The engine mounted in-line. They are also using a "flat" 180-degree crankshaft. This is probably why it would seem to be two separate engines. Phasing a 60-degree V-8 should be interesting. Will it sound like a pack of Harleys coming down the road? Also, it's (engine) is not transverse mounted like every other successfully designed bike. When you roll on the power, the engine torque is going to pull you to one side. Roll off and torque pulls you back the other way. Sounds fun huh? Try that in the turns.

If you think your first year problems were bad, wait till this thing rolls out.

That sounds like quite a ride Maui. I would love to hear it though if it actaully rolls off the production line.

Not only would it shake rattle and roll and be unreliable. I would imagine that the average person would need to refinance in order to get it serviced. Parking it next to a mini-van at your local K-mart would probably not be an option either.

The only caveat is that if you can get it at the suggested reatail [if there is such a thing] because you have a contact I would feel safe refinancing the ranch. This is not like putting cash down for the unseen ZX-12 or any other mortal bike. You can bet that there are plenty of people who don't have a contact but more money than god who would pay 20% on top of what you paid to put it in their heated garage on thier summer estate or in their gaudy office under glass. The Norton would be one option contract that is gauranteed to return a sizable profit without even having a procedural and safekeeping agreement. Anyone who could get their hands on one and could beg borrow or steal 40 large would probably be getting a bargain.
