How many miles will the 'busa last?

I know it completely depends on rider style and maintenance, but I was just curious how many miles most people are getting out of their bike?

When i wen to dealership, the guy told me this bike as long as you do oil changes and regular maintenance, will last well over 150k miles. He said this bike is very dependable and engines are built really good!

I was thinkin around 30K would be a good number to shoot for.

BusaWhipped, is your 70K on the original motor?

And Newbieonbusa, I learned a long time ago not to believe anything the dealership tells you. They're just trying to make a sale.

APPARENTLY ONLY THREE!!

It's still out for debate, after 11 years, no one has ever made it.

There's quite a few riders on here that have 60k+ miles on their original motor busa. Regular maintenance is very important though. :beerchug:

She has a little bit more than this right now and still running strong. Sorry about the dirty pic. This is the latest one I have.

I kind of wonder what "how long it would last" really means. At what point would it no longer last? You mean before it needs a motor overhaul or until it is just a useless pile of rubble like a '79 for Escort driven in midwestern winters all it's life.

Engine and transmission are all original never opened. I wore out the forks, the shock, and the seat. Replaced the clutch and cam chain as general maintenance just to be safe.

More tires than I care to remember, 5 chains and about 25 oil changes.

Sportbike motors are well balanced and well made. I have a friend get over 140k on an f4I. I have seen my share of goldwings with 100k+ as well. The truth is most motorcycles will last until they are put in either a tree or a barn. Neglect, crashing, and owners kill bikes rarely do they go down by themselves.

44,000 never needed anything other then the normal. Plugs, oil, filter cleaned and throttle sync (didn't really need it - only been done once) Never checked the valves but that will probably be this winter. No engine noise and still runs strong

I have never heard of a busa or any bike for that matter clunking out without rider or mechanic error. Dad rode all his younger years and says he can't remember ever changing the oil in any of his bikes.

That's a bit silly. The answer is this:

I've been wondering lately if I should wait till I roll over 100,000 on mine before moving on to a new one. I'm doing more maintenance than 5-6 yrs ago, but it seems routine. I've got wheel bearings arriving tomorrow, swapped out plugs a week ago. But have never touched motor. Or the fork.

Not trying to poke fun, but really need to evolve your thinking of what these bikes are capable of.

This was a week ago. New set of knee pucks arrived today.

Nice to know :-) My Hayabusa has 38000 km on it, and I dont drive it hard, so I guess there is plenty of km´s left in her :-)

I highly suspect the dealership was correct in stating 150K. Japanese motorcycle engines have traditionally been very reliable and long lived.

Man just ride it until something happens and then fix it. That is what we all do. That bike you have is not a Yugo my friend.
It is one of the best machines ever built. Don't ever second guess the Busa on a Busa message board.:poke:

Just kiddin brother.

i hit 30,000 miles on my k1 and was due for a fork overhaul. other than that, she ran like the day i picked her off the showroom floor.

100K + mile sportbikes would be more common if there weren't so many getting wadded up in crashes or tucked away in the garage. Many riders don't use them for commuting or touring, most are sunny day weekend riders so they don't rack up lots of miles. Bunch of bike night lot princesses! :poke:

If this thread stays alive long enough I think you'll see there are many a Busa here that have 50K + miles. Two have already posted and I'd think that Wasabi, Scar's '08, is probably in the 70K mile range by now. Don't know the owners/screen names, but I'm sure there are several 100K + Busa hanging around here.

To say that 30K is the life expectancy from a Busa is . They're not some poorly manufactured Chinese knockoff POS that you throw away after a year or two.
