How much for a Busa?

First would just like to say nice board you all got here. This is my first time posting here. Just discovered the board via google.

I currently own a 02' Buell M2 and would like to give my bike some companionship. To be honest I have never been a fan of liter bikes. Not because of the way they look or their performance, but the way I feel when on one. As soon as I get on a crotch rocket my legs instantly cramp. It has been like that from the begining when I first took a ride on a buddys Ninga back when I was 21. Well back in March of this year, or some where along those lines, a friend of mine got a 03' Hayabusa and let me test it out. Wow is all I can say. I just could not get over how comfortable the bike was and how well the balance seemed to fit me. Of course ever since then I have been thinking about getting one.

Now I have a bit of an opportunity. You see I am currently deployed in Iraq saving some good money. What I would like to know is how much would it cost to pick up a 99' or 00' Hayabusa. To be honest the most I would like to spend would be about $6500.

I also post over at BADWEB in case any one is also at that site.

Thanks for your input.

Oh yeah, I love the spell check.

$6500 is a kinda lowball. More like 7-7.5 at least. Or-do me a favor and blow some Iraqi's brains out who has one and take it!

Oh, I forgot....I'm supposed to say just kidding.

Kind of figured $6500 was a bit low looking at ebay and cycle trader. But still wanted to get info from the people who ride Busas.

If I ever see an Iraqi on a Hayabusa out here I would have an embolism.

It really depends what you have planned? You can find them for $6500 but it will need some work unless it's just a steal. With that in mind, are you paying CASH?

If you aren't paying cash, you could actually own a brand new BUSA cheaper per month than you can finance a used one. Even with excellent credit!

That is why most will just recommend a NEW bike unless you see something in the FORSALE section from a current member and know it has been well taken care of.

Yes I would be paying straight cash. I just got a new Dodge truck last May and do not need anything else to make payments on. That is unless you think putting $6500 down on a new Hayabusa would really make my payments low. I mean really low.

Do not know you guys yet but understand what you are saying. I was also thinking of picking up another Buell as well and I know I would only buy a used one from one of the Buell BADWEB members.

Sgt. you might want to look at the thread "Deposit on a 05 Busa", there is an 04 LE Busa with a ton of upgrades for an outstanding price. Just on option!

That's a good price on the LE. I would definately do any cash deal in person, after I checked out the bike really well. Personally, I would save a couple more grand and get a new one.

Yep, that kind of deposit would make payments extremely low. Seriously, you should check out the bikes for sale by members here. Quite a few deals to be had that would definitely make for a 2fer. And if you are worried about storage I'm sure someone would love to take care of the bike for you. Ain't that right folks!

If you look around for a while you can find a good deal on a busa around your price range. For example I bought my 02 busa on this board when I posted a Wanted add, A guy emailed me and said he was thinking of selling his busa and only lived 2 hours away from me and that he wanted $7400 for the bike. It had 3800 miles on it and he shot me a couple of pics of it and I made him an offer of $6800 cash and told him I would pic it up the next day if he would take that. So I went and picked the bike up and found out he was the original owner and he was an older gentlemen so the bike had been babied. So just look around and you will find a deal.

I do not know if it is because I'm here in Iraq with nothing better to do with my free time than think about owning a Busa. But it keeps nagging at me. When I get back to states I am going to have to have do some serious contemplation. The options right now are take the money I save here and put it down on a Busa. Or pay off my bike and maybe think about trading it in. This pretty much all comes from not hearing about a certain 96' Buell S2 (last of the hand built Buells). You see I was thinking about getting the S2 to go with my M2 but never heard back from the guy. A new or even used Busa would cost more than the S2 and I'm not so sure I could afford my Buell and a Busa. To much to think about from now and until I get back to Tampa.

I think if you look around during the off-season (now, for instance) you will definitely find some bikes in your price range. It will take patience though.

Stay safe over there. I'll be making my year-long trip there in FEB.
