How would I use this to bleed brakes?

Is the idea to pull air out of the lines, or pull fluid through into a container?

Well it said it uploaded a pic, but I don't see it. It is a hand vacuum pump with hoses and a container.

I'm guessing that it's a mighty vac pump...you suck fluid into the container until no more air is in the tube then top off the master cylinder.

I've always wondered how those work. I've put new lines on 3 bikes now and that sounds like a very useful tool.

Keep pumping until your getting straight , no bubbles, brake fluid in the container. Be sure to keep the master cylinder topped off and close the bleeder valve before you take the pump hose off.
Cool tools those Mity Vacs.

This keeps you from pumping the brakes for 30 minutes and beating you head on the wall trying to get all the air out of the line. Dont ask how I know.

All you have to do is gravity bleed. Fill master cyl, loosten bleed screw, wait for steady stream of brake fluid, close off bleeder and top off master cyl. Of course, if you don't feel like waiting, or pumping the brakes, a vacume bleeder is a very nice thing to have.

+1 on keeping the master cylinder full. Also, make sure that the tube to the bleeder is always at vacuum when the valve is open. Ok, and put tinfoil and rags around the master cylinder to catch any fluid.

Thanks guys. I bought one. $25.00 for the pump, container, and a dozen adapters.

How often should I change out the fluid? My bike is an 05 and the brakes feel OK, but I remember something about a complete fluid change at shorter intervals than this bike has had (0 changes).

Also, what about the hydraulic clutch?

Hows this for a guarantee: It will suck for two years.

My owners manual says change brake and clutch fluid every 2 years.
That is a pretty good warrenty.

I've never had great luck using the mightyvac, although it is very useful for pulling fresh fluid through the lines, or for the initial prime of a newly installed/dry hydraulic system.

Another tip... You can actually bleed from the top of the hydraulic reservoir (fronts at least) by lightly tapping the brake lever just enough to move the master cylinder but not enough to pump any fluid. With the cap off, you can see little bubbles escape the port in the bottom of the reservoir. This is air that has floated up to the top of the line.
