i am so ashamed of this weak dyno pull

Chris, my bike pulled a 140.99 first then one minute later,143.94. My only mods are yosh slip ons and a k@n air filter. No PC, nothing, just those two. Unless you want to count my tent, camp cup and pink flip flops on the back! Along with all my assorted other camping gear!

I agree with other posters, thats more HP than anyone ever needs and uses. Initially i was disappointed, but i realized i had been reading to many suzuki promotional brochures!

Of course, those dyno numbers published are the optimum conditions and of course are those numbers at the crank or at the rear? Huge difference.

So considering that my bike is pretty much completley stock, i will take my 144 and be happy with it.

BTW, i came second in my class and i was the only chick that entered the dyno contest.

As an aside, sitting here looking at the dyno chart, its reminding me of sex, slightly open throttle, then the thrusters( no pun intended, LOL) kick in, builds to peak power, then sharply drops off.

And if you are young enough ( colton?) you even have enough left for a second run!

So, if we want to equate dyno pulls with sex, I would say
, chris, your wife should be a happy lady!!!!

as a thought...were you just in toronto again? lol

All pends on the dyno. I would have thought 20more HP. Get a custom map and tune..and youll feel the diff. The MULLET HAD sim mods to you but also a 330rear and pulled 155hp.

All pends on the dyno though.

seems to me you were slipping on the dyno those rear straps were not tight enough to keep you planted. The rolling dydno staff are famous for not securing bikes well causing major slippage

Those numbers look normal to me. I just did a 2000 Busa with an airbox mod, Full Akropovic exhaust, pair valve mod and a PCII. It pulled 157. We also did a 2001 with a Yoshimura TR3 Titanium exhaust, air box mod, pair valve mod and intake cam mod and it pulled 169hp.

I ran a 9.62 on the first bike at the track and a 9.52 on the 2nd one. Both had air shifters, first one 10" over 2nd one 4" over.

Expecially the portable dyno's arent always correct. Then you have to factor in the tuner. either way,Thats a sweet looking bike.

I pulled a 157 when Greg did my map, he said it would do better with less humidity (was above a 100 degrees that day), and a small air box mod. He said it was within the norm of what it should be with a full pipe, and air filter.

I've heard of bikes that do awful #'s on a Dyno, but are monsters on the track, and the other way around, but don't know for myself how true that is ??

Gosh, I can't believe no one is commenting on my sex analogy!!!

I though it was kinda funny.....

The bike will never perform as it should with a generic map. My brocks map made more power than my custom map from Smithers, but ran so rich it cleared Smithers entire building of employees and me. Get a good tuner to map your bike out. Mine made 170hp with the Brocks map and 169 with Smithers, The air fuel tellls the entire story as mine is spot on almost a straight line now. Ill keep my 169hp map thank you !

Get a map made for your bike it needs to be tuned this is the only way it will run it's cleanest. Nice bike looks kinda like mine???

Off hand, I'd say those are pretty good numbers. The horsepower rating is specified at the crank, so that's damn good at the rear wheel. Now...don't forget, you are going to get 10-15 more horsepower with the RAM air operating. On a dyno, you have NO ram air boost, so that's going to make a difference.
Another thing lots of folks forget is that the torque curve is VERY important. As a general rule on almost all bikes, when you reduce back pressure, you change the torque curve, sliding it upwards in the RPM band. A lot of dudes slap on a set of low restriction pipes and a free breathing air cleaner and expect more performance. What they are in fact doing is sliding the torque band upwards and losing the bottom end pull or dig. Another thing you can try is popping in a set of Iridium plugs. Your gas mileage will go to hell, but I think you'll pull better dyno numbers. I believe the "smoke" you saw come out the exhaust at the top RPM was unburned gas when the rev limiter started kicking in.
Anyway, like the Bros said, it's all just a numbers game and I wouldn't worry about it..!!
Lets RIDE..!!

Funny...

if you want more hp, then have the bike professionaly tuned vs downloading the map from dynojet.

+1 greg
the maps from dynojet arent very good IMO.
You can use it as a base ,but you got to tweak it.
Ive seen several that held bikes back..too many to count,,
Get someone to tune a good map.
either way, nice bike,,loss of only 5 or 7 hp in 26k thats not bad,
but I'd start with the custom map and maybe a TB sync 2nd
That bike has more in than that

OK guys I gotta chime in here! I have a 2006 that has slipons, airbox mod and PCIII(mapped) and I got 168hp. And the damn thing is super fast. I love that bike, NOW I just purchased a 1999 Busa with 30,000kilometers(living in Germany) and I bought a new BMC filter, PCIII and then dynoed(mapped). The bike only pushed 150HP. I was devistated. It runs like ****, it failed the german TüV(registration/emissions) as it is running WAY TOO rich. Something isn't right.... Anyway, the bike runs good but I am upset with the power and HP. I will fix it soon... I guess JUST ENJOY the bike!

Chris, my 05 with the same exhaust, same power commander, full airbox mod and a K&N did almost exactly the same numbers, I think about 158 or so.
