I did 500 miles this morning (pics)

we are trying to start doing that this year. Just taking trips out, just to ride and enjoy. Thanks for sharing. I know that you guys have talked about this over and over again. Could you give me a run down on cleaning the chain and keeping it clean?:thumbsup:

Thanks for sharing! great pics!
AH HA.........I have that same jacket in red (Joe Rocket Blaster 4.0).:beerchug:

Nice ride and great pics!!

In the process of first test on your chain lube. Will let you know my results soonest!!
Thanks. I'll be here waiting for you to say that you had a great result.

Nice pic's.
Thanks.

Sweetness man
Thanks.

Great pics and I'm always happy to hear you make it back safe .
I love the one of picnic table .
That would be a great place to hang out and appreciate mother nature .
Thank you, fyend. That's my favorite place to hang out. Just sit there for a couple of minutes, take deep breaths and really enjoy the view. I think it's like 70-80 miles away from home. Not sure exactly how far.

You're one of my heroes also! I got some riding in this weekend but no where near what you got. Maybe next weekend though. :beerchug:

I think I need to invest in a seat because my bum was hurting me after about 100 miles. ???
You need Corbin. 'nuff said.

I REALLY need to get up with you, and ride !! That's when I like to ride, NO TRAFFIC !!

Although 500 miles would probably hurt my feelings

And seeing my chain would probably hurt yours, LoL

I'm getting ready to go have at it with mine, just got home from a ride (a whole 90 miles:laugh:) How do you clean yours ? I usually just spray mine with chain wax, wipe it down good, then spray on some more & let it sit over night, but it don't look as good as yours.
I don't use anything else but Dupont. I don't clean it with anything else. The only thing about that chain is that it's brand new when I started using the Dupont but after today's ride, it's got probably around 4,000 miles on it. As you noticed in that pic, dust didn't even stick to it. Like I've said, I took that pic at my last stop just before I headed home. Noticed the wheel too, no fling whatsoever. Simply AMAZING!!!

As I just mentioned earlier, Dupont Chain wax is all I use. I spray it directly onto the chain 3-4 links at a time and wipe it with shop towel right away. That's all there is to it.

Yes, it is. I love it.

WOW-- beautiful Busa and awsome pic's...Thnx
And your 67000 miles on the bike is inspiring for us with lower miles...
How come your pretty rims don't get dirty....Around here 20 minutes down the road there dirty...

Oh have to ask about your Driving lights on your forks.. what brand and do they make it better to see going around turns... stock light just sux at night in the curves.

Considering that Maryland is only about 100 x 250 miles you did some serious riding, cross any state lines....like a day trip to VA or PA?

I only have one word to say about keeping the bike/wheels clean. "Pledge". People on here have experienced it. When your whole bike has Pledge on it, dirt and dust don't stick as bad compared to when you don't use Pledge. Also, the roads I ride aren't that dirty. It's mostly highway not like some country roads where cars hardly ever go there. I think that's why. Also, when I go out really early in the mornings, I hardly use my brakes because there's not that many cars around. Less braking, less brake dust.

That's it!!! Those two are the only ones I use.

They're Clearwater. They do help like when you're entering or exiting a ramp. My main purpose of getting them is to be seen by other drivers.
Ah yes the Pledge thread comes alive again Thank you.
You're welcome.

What's your favorite route, Jesse?
My favorite ride is around Cumberland area. When I have plenty of time, I love going to New River Gorge Bridge in Fayettesville, WVA. I think it's 350 miles one way. I can't recall. That's the time when I did 838 miles in almost 16 hours.

I've done parts of VA, WVA, PA, and upstate NY in one day when I still had my R1. I did 825 miles that day.

do you get in those rims with a Q-tip ??

Pledge does keep dust off. My brother, and I went to mow my sisters lawn last week. When we were done the bikes were covered in pollen. 20 miles down the road my bike was clean, his still has it on there.

Nope. No Q-tip. Just a duster most of the time and Pledge/microfiber towel maybe 3X a week. This is how I do it after each ride....

There you go again, folks. The power of Pledge. When I took that pic of the chain at the gas station, I was shocked too when I saw the wheels that clean. The only part that got really dusty was the rim.....not the spokes. They did, but not much as you can see in that pic. That's no joke.

Sure was. I have a feeling that 1000 miles within 24 hours is not that hard to do. If I can do 500 miles before noon with lots of stops to take pics, what's another 500 miles from noon to midnight?

I really think I'm ready to do the Iron Butt.

go for it. we did this past Saturday. See my thread ( Ringgold to ST Louis and home in 24 ) I really didnt feel bad on Sunday or today either. I wound up with 1133 miles total. Should be a breeze for you. :) the guy on the HD said he was sore yesterday and today.

I am going for it. Just don't know exactly when. My co-worker wants to do it with me. Will definitely keep you all posted when it's going to happen.

I think it would be a breeze for me. I've done many 500 mile rides before and it doesn't bother me at all.....not even the next day.
