I just can't get the ergos where I want...

Try sliding up towards the tank... when I first started riding the Busa I was constantly putting my butt against the hump and leaning way over and out there putting a lot weight on hands, wrists, forearms, etc... found by sliding up to the tank while riding around puts me in a better ergo position. Using you lower back to hold yourself up will also allow you not to lean on hands... also don't lock your elbows keep them slightly bent. Hope this helps.

Wear a cup, though.

(Suijuris @ Dec. 20 2006,11:25) I bought some helibars for my '06- but after 1k miles, I found that its just a matter of proper positioning, as most everyone else here is saying. pivot point is key.gotta stay off the bars for that-
I didnt put the helibars on, and doubt if I will. paid $100 for them on e bay- want em? I'd be willing to sell them to you for the $100- and I'll pay the shipping- if that will help you from letting your Busa go.
Wow, lots of ideas and even a little sarcasm... The ZX14 is a little more upright and the pegs seem lower as well. Are those helibars just the bars themselves? If so I may take them. The convertibars look like they have endless options, not crazy about the looks though. I had an LSL kit on my ZZR1200, they just use any 3/4" bars. that is another option. Thanks for all the help.

Yeah the Heli Bars are just clipon bars they use all the factory cables ect. If you run raisers with them you may have to buy longer cables but i loved mine. As said above posture and how you ride plays a big factory. In my opinion i like the busa's riding position over the ZX14. Just my 2 cents tho

I guess I didn't expect too many riders to want the helibars-- oh boy- I have had a few requests for them -- what did I start?

Just saw where you are 5'10", not short, but in comparison I'm almost 6'3" and have a long reach, 76" fingertip to fingertip....one of the main reasons I like the reach/ergos of the Busa.

Try the risers like others suggested. You won't have better luck with any other "sportbike."

I had the same problems after getting mine ......an hour commute to work each day ( one way ) was taking it's toll ! So I tried different seating positions ......up more on the tank , back farther in the seat , leaning on the tank , sitting upright etc. etc So each position had a downfall...sore lower back, sore shoulder blades , hands going to sleep , wrists hurting etc. etc. But one day I found it ! Middle of the seat , a little lean on the tank, slight bend in the elbows , back straight .....and guess what ....I'm much happier on my commutes now . Ya just gotta find the sweet spot .

Whatever you do, give it time to work. It does take some getting used to and once you do, it's well worth it.

Lifeguardct, I know exactly what you mean.  I just bought my first sportbike, a beautiful 05 Busa.  I am also 5' 10" but only about 160 lbs. and riding the Busa feels extremely awkward, cannot seem to find the proper comfortable riding position, seems to feel that all your weight is directed on you arms, like the seat is too high or the bars are too low or both.  I'm not sure if I just havn't given myself enough time to adjust to the geometry of the bike yet or what but it definetly feels strange to me.  I think my biggest problem is that I'm so used to the traditional upright riding position of my V-Max's. shoot the first ride on the Busa I kept missing the foot pegs, this is totally different.  I think I'll first try the Tobin seat and maybe some risers, also I've read that a foot peg mod lowers the pegs and I'm thinking this might help the feel.  The only time the bike feels right is when I crack the throttle, I can see it now, well officer I was just trying to get comfortable

Lower the backend with links, that also helps. But I think I am going to sell it and move to something else. Wish I had the Busa motor in the FZ1...

No he needs a Gold Wing...not a Sport Bike

A Gold Wing? Holy Crap! I'd rather restore my 74 Kawi S3 400 Triple 2 stroke (chambers and all) and ride that before I'd ride a Gold Wing, I wouldn't be cought dead on a Gold Wing, the thought of it makes me nausous!
