I just looked inside my air box.

I can't believe that an engine could inhale enough air through that thing to make 180hp. When I do my exhaust and tune the FI system on a dyno, I'm getting a Motorhead air box. Anybody know if it will hurt to do the mini-mod while I'm waiting? I'm talking all the way out to the lip.

I installed a muzzy and did the mini mod and picked up 9 hp. on the dyno however there is a stumble around 3k rpms but it could be due to the pipe I'm not sure. I ran about the same mph in the 1/8th but it was the first time I ran at this track so there could be a difference in tracks.

I don't have the money right now to do a Muzzy full titanium exhaust, a Motorhead air box, dyno time and tweak the FI system all at once. I also am not going to waste money doing it one step at a time and then having to go back to the dyno to tweak the FI system more than once. If there is no harm in doing the mini-mod, then I can have the satisfaction of whittling on plastic, the additional intake noise at part throttle, and maybe a horsepower or two, without spending any money. I just don't want to create a driveability issue. What do you think?

Johnnycheese I hate to disagree with one I have such respect for, but mine doesn't bog. All stock, not even a remap except small airbox mod and 4 long stacks. Or if it does bog, it even bogs strong! But really, I noticed no difference re bogging.

a map is getting made but in the meantime you use the tiforce map on the pc2 and set the idle circuit with a yosh at 1030-1100 and the pc2 at 0+1+2 i just did this with mine (after 30 damn pulls though).this morning i did some test driving and this is great.i had 150 hp stock added ti muzzy all long stacks and the airbox mod and got 165 hp and 102#torque and my dyno is stingy as helll.over 90#torque from 5200-9200rpm!over150hp from8,000-10,800!tried mixed stacks etc.lost2-3hp and 2#torque

Tinhead you are not dissagreeing with me<I agree with you but every so often you get a bike that unless you map it it bogs.
Just keep in the back of your mind I am use to CYA.
Yes mine does not bog.

GSX1360 what do you meen by that statement?
I have a 200HP busa with ram air and an air box and it still produces positive pressure at speed

Well, Dr. Kirk the phenolic surgeon has emerged from the operating room. Performed a very clean mini-mod. No bog. Noise level is very close to stock. Seems to rev nice and crisp from any load / speed / gear. As far as power goes, I usually use the scales at the drag strip, the mile per hour lights, and a calculator to figure horsepower, but my skills are not ready for the drag strip yet.

Besides TurboRick, you don't get positive pressure until most races are decided... Therefore, it's useless in most situations other than to say you're running a filter...
