Interesting that you ask that....my red Haybus Busa is a 2000 with aluminum....I've considered switching them out (does anyone remember the difference? I think 6 pounds?) BUT, I'm leaning towards the gsxr race tail with a scanty, minimalist but strong "one off" subframe which would yield even more weight savings and make the bike look downright tiny! For now though.....the hump helps define the bike, the color is dramatic and there already, it has a brand new Tobin seat, all the electronics have been installed under the hump, it has a brand new HotBodies colormatched undertail (with really effective rear led lighting)....It drives my blood cold to think about striping all that off when it was just freeking finished!! It's not like the bike is a porker! Know what I mean? I gotta ride and enjoy it awhile first. One more bling/ego based thing (I hate this about myself) is that, when the bike is sitting in a group of bikes and/or at a bike night affair, the hump actually draws the eye toward the bike (not something pictures capture) and somehow adds to the mistique of the build. I would only disclose that to other Busa owners! Doyle
ps as I reread this post it occured to me that I could retain all stated above if I put the aluminum stock subframe on this bike...and still reduce much weight! I'm still thinking!
We should start a self-help group because you, my friend, are ADDICTED!
I can't see you being satisfied with this weight loss for long... like me, you'll just keep thinking about it as you try to drift off to sleep each night - for years! We are like Hayabusa anorexics!
