I must betray you

I think it's beautiful! a work of art. I think that of most motorcycles though. all bikes are fast and you can only have the most powerful fastest bike on the road for so long until another manufacturer comes out with the new yzfgsxzx-whatever. I decided to stop reaching for the ultimate bike and turn my efforts to becoming the ultimate rider. (having the ultimate bike helps) :D

Beautiful Machine!!!! Probably one of the best looking front profiles I've ever seen. My money says its gonna be a track killer as well. 10-15 years ago may have given it a shot, but I'll stick with my baby busa for now--- speed and comfort for the 40+ Grand Sport tourers!

Betray if you must...We'll be looking for you in the mirrors...
Besides, could that thing have missed at least one branch of the Ugly tree on the way down?:super:

Kidding kidding...Looks pretty cool, but if this is Yamahas opening shot I am really looking forward to seeing The new offerings from Honda Kawasaki, and Suzuki...

I do like the way it looks but I do think the 98 R1 was the best looking. If it really has 180HP at the crank that would be an incredible ride. I think I have room in my garage for another bike :)

How do they squeeze out 180 crank HP from an engine 30% smaller than ours?:super: What is the torque spec? It may have very exotic components like 8 valves/cylinder, 18 to 1 compression ratio or unobtainium crankshaft? If it is that "high spirited" it may be a nightmare to maintain and the fuel may be nitro expensive? I am kidding sort of. But really, if they use high compression to boost HP, the drivability will suffer. It will ride badly at lower RPM and then the HP will hit like a freight train at 10,000 RPM. That is no fun. I like the feel of the power band on the Busa. It will putt around town at slow speed and be well behaved doing it. Then it can light up your world with a simple wrist twist. I think it is the best all around bike ever and will be for a long time to come. This Yamaha is going to be a track only bike unless you like pain. It will not be a bike you will want to ride down to the liquor store.:O

Follow your heart man, just realize that on this occasion it means that you will also be following all of us :tounge: . Its ok though, you gotta do what you gotta do. My advice would be to keep the busa for when you get tired of the little machine so that you can come on back to where you belong!

One thing that gets me, is that it looks like we are entering another era of look alike Crotch Rockets... Honda started this latest trend of copying and expanding on the old Ducati 916 line. Now, it appears that Yamaha is going to follow the new Honda CBR600RR...Well at least ONE bike is still visually distinctive...the Ole' Busa...

Another thought, those passanger pegs look like they are about 12" below the passanger seat.
T'aint no way moma gonna fit back there!

If you really want to know what these bikes can do take them to the track and then on a 500 mile tour and compare performance and comfort.  That is the best overall gage.  For you non track riders how do you measure performance or is it just about the numbers?

Marc "Howlin Mad"
Numbers have some effect on machine choice. (IE:busa)
In this case it is important to me that the numbers improve over the 2000r1, 2002 r1. I honestly could give two craps if the new blade, ninja or gsxr are better in the numbers department. Street bikes gots to be sexy as well as fast. That is where this particular machine accels.
How do I measure performance? How easy does it wheelie, stop, turn in, lay over, accelerate? Things like that. you can feel a difference. I am not exactly sure what your asking, I am not trying to be a pain.
I am sure the r1 will be a wicked track tool, however If a track bike is what you need, r6's and gsxr600's are much better for the task.

R1's are a farking blast on the street, that's where they shine if you ask me.

And yes they are torture racks when doing 500 mile trips, but if that's what you do you would not consider a literbike.

Looks like another literbike.... They are all small, compact, un-comfortable, and light as can be. But they do corner, wheelie, and brake very well. As Marc mentioned, on the track, LOOK OUT... Its all aboot what you want out of your motorcycling experience. I think the busa is busaful and way to comfortable for me to go get another literbike..

Well that is why so many different bikes are for sale. if you like it buy it. I notice that 180 at the crank, don't think so, but what is it at the wheels. Different bike for different folks. i will keep my 310hp mod Ninja Eating rocket thank you much.:O :tounge:

Oh yhea almost forgot. If you like it buy it, don't betray us while you do it..
 :D

Wow. I'd never think I'd see the Busa superceded so quickly:( I really wanted one, but may up getting the ZX-10 or whichever is the most stellar.

Looks cool, but not even slightly interested. I enjoy the torque my busa boots out. I bet that thing puts out 80ft pounds at 10k rpm. That's too high strung for me. And not to mention it's too light in the ass as well. I don't know about you, but when I'm over 170mph I feel solidly bolted to my busa. Can you say the same for a bike like that?

Bahahahhahahah....... Jagged Edge just like all of the others. It will definitely get lost in the parking lot. I must be a busaholic because every other bike has jagged edges and looks very half way built... They all look like something that you can take out, do stunts on em, and beat the SH** out of em..
Ya know what I mean? I think the Busa has the only cruising, sporting, around town and all of the above look to it.. Not just the jagged edge take me out and do wheelies and stunts with me look like all of the others...

The new 03' GSXR1000 has almost caught my eye and is kind of organic and alive looking with its new look, but still looks jagged in some ways...

Only the Busa has the organically smooth aerodynamic predator looking hunt you down and eat you up look to it....

But whatever you like I guess, Sorry but,
my name is Quazy and Im a Busaholic...  :super:
