I rode a 14 tonight

Another note. While dyno tuning this bike the Land and Sea Dyno showed with stock wheels, sprockets and chain there was a 6.5 drivetrain horse power loss. When we did the Hayabusa with BST wheels and light weight sprockets and 520 chain there was a drivetrain power loss of 3.5 horsepower. I will re-dyno the bike after we change the wheels, sprockets and chain to see if that number drops. Just an interesting note. I wish I had the numbers from the stock Busa to compare to. Yes I get into all that funny stuff..its free speed.

(DeWarrior @ Sep. 07 2006,08:05) Replace the rear signal lenses with something more closely fitted to the curve of the tail fairing.
I have a rumbleimports.com undertail coming. It comes with new led lights. My worry is like with many aftermarket undertails, the lights will not be effective during daytime hours.
Actually from the rear the 14 OE tail looks sharp IMO, just smooth out the indicators a little. It's a diff. story from the side.

I like the integrated lights when Busa owners have to contend with 1980 blinkers. Suzuki was smart enough to do this up front for aeros...don't know why they left the rear like that. Hopefully next year will have some flush signals that can be molded into the older Busa models without buying a whole new tail section.

(GPW @ Sep. 07 2006,07:58) When the new wheels get here I am going to paint the lower forks which are that bronze color, I hate. Which color....red or black. Also, the heal gaurds, would you guys powder coat them black or red? Come on mod freaks help a brother out.
How about powdercoating the heel guards gunmetal to match the new wheels and tie the front and back together? And do they make gunmetal Rizoma mirrors?

For some reason I picture looking at it at night with 4 red LED light tubes under the wire mesh in the grills.

(PaNDeM1C @ Sep. 03 2006,01:43) 14 still looks ghey. The 08 will once again make Kawasaki go back to the drawing board for another 7 years.... have fun with it.
Pan, no offense, but what are you a friggin parrot? Try an original thought once in a while...

(BigBSBusa @ Sep. 06 2006,18:12) My eyes!  My eyes!  The reflectors are scarring the retinas!

How'd the dyno numbers turn out?
Yeah I know that front refector could save my butt at an intersection so I am not sure yet, adding some new graphics tomorrow so it might come off. I already clipped the under tail.

The dyno work took about five hours. We started with 166 stock. We pulled the secondaries (biggest change we could have made unleashed the lower end) we also pulled a very restrictive metal screen off of the air filter, we added a full Tsukigi Racing 4 into 1 and switched the oil the Royal Purple's "Max Cycle".  Also activated the accelerator function on the PCIII with settings of 92% - 25 engine rev. and 15% of fuel. The map is outstanding, perfect fuel air ratio.

Our final result was 186.9 SAE @ 106 ft pounds of torque. DJ "Sageronin" was there for the entire tuning period. With the flies out it was tough getting the bike dialed in but we did. 12.3 to 1 is the sweet spot a/f for the 14 like 13.1 to 1 is for the Busa. The bike now is completly unreal from a stop. Lots more work to do. Just info not picking a Busa/14 fight here by any means.
great gains...how about a little dry shot ?

My thoughts exactly. I have never met someone with so much negative to say and has done so little. Reminds me of my grandmother...may she rest is peace.

For the record I will have an 07-08 whatever Suzuki makes as well as the 08 whatever Kawi makes. I plan to have the front runners each year to play with.

Having trouble finding a base to work with the Rizoma mirrors. I agree the heal guards should be gun metal or CF if I can them. Thanks

Sorry. I won't say I like the 14 simply because one of our org members now owns one. I looked at both bikes when deciding what to buy and went with the Busa for many reasons. I wasn't being negative. Just giving my thoughts about it. Also, I find it funny that when others agreed with me about the looks of the 14 you didn't go after them (no names).... just went right at me. But that's ok. I'll be the punching bag...

Done so little? Let's not get personal, now... especially since we don't know each other.

I'm sorry if my shallow thoughts on the 14 in general rubbed you the wrong way simply because you now own one. I looked at both bikes this year and went with the Busa for various reasons. Mainly because I think it looks better and feels better.

That's cool you plan on getting both bikes each year to play with. I'm sure everybody here wishes they could pick up on that hobby!

That was a good idea . I saw a coupe 14's roll thru Ybor city last weekend but they didn't stop and park so we could gawk at them. Looked like they had been modded . They don't look as bad in real life and with the rear fender removed. Nice ride GPW.

I thought that the 2 bikes (red and green) that raoring toyz did, that the green 14 didnt have the grills, not sure if they modded the panels or buitl new from scratch, but they are smooth, and imo looks sweet

(BigDawg_03Busa @ Sep. 07 2006,08:48) Sounds cool Sage and I know it's been said many times but I just can't get past the look.  I'm not committed to any dealer, I just like certain bikes.  The busa when I first saw one in 99' I couldn't stop drooling.  So I guess just like the 14 it's one of those bikes that you will either hate or love.  I saw a blue one at my local shop tuesday and it looked okay, but I still don't like the styling.  Thanks for the review, I'd like to ride one just for kicks though.

(babuski @ Sep. 08 2006,08:08) ah...boys......for the idiots among us....what is a Fly?
The zx14 has tow set of butter ( flies) on the throttle body ... One works with a cable the other by the ECU ..They tame down the low end power to make it easier to ride ....Pull the out and and a P/C and map BANG 22 foot pounds of torQ and 12 HP added at 3000 rpms ....Now your zx14 makes more torq and hp than a busa from 0 to 11,000 rpms ....

thank you hemibusa.....sounds like a monster bike. Can't to see one on the roads...saw one the other day....but heading in other direction.....
