Well 2 R1's , 2 ZX12's , and 2 ZX14's and 12 years later I'm back on a Busa. For some reason I really didn't connect with my 02 blue and black Busa and kept it less than a year. I sold my 2016 14r a couple of years ago due to the crazy covid inflated prices and thought I could soldier on with my remaining C14. Had my eyes set on another 14 but came upon this clean 08 a few weeks ago and decided that the price and condition was to good to pass up. Man what a different riding/performance experience than my 1st gen. I think I aged out of the 4-1's but I have a cat delink pipe and Yoshi c/f slipons on the way to go with a Chris Moore flash I got last week. Good to be back !

Can’t even go wrong with orange copper

Well I guess I am done! But thanks for all the replies. Got rear-ended today while trying to make a left turn by lady going 50 mph. Impact shattered the rear rim which probably absorbed most of the impact. Witnesses say I flew 6 to 8 ft up in the air. Except for a little road rash on my left knee and some stiffness I'm okay. Let me just say this helmet and gear works ! Be safe and have fun. A used set of yoshimira r77 carbon fiber slip-ons are still on the way LOL. I'll probably list them here.

Oh, that's terrible! Glad you are okay and seem to have such a good attitude though. They say it helps the healing. Always good to wear gear. Once you heal up we hope you don't hang up that gear.

Glad to see you survived in the condition you did. About 2 days from now will be the worst part of the recovery as everything will be adjusting to the forces applied.
Did you have a conversation with the lady? I wonder if she on the phone by any chance just before impact?

I have a well sorted out Connie myself... best overall bike I have ever owned. My rebuilt Gen 1 will be back in action soon.

Considering the speed she hit you at, the damage isn't as bad as I thought it would be.....

She probably used the tired old adage of "I didn't see him"
The more I think about it the more I think she had some issues. Her face was showed no emotion what so ever and the ONLY thing she said was " I bet you want to punch me." This was on a 2 lane country highway and about a mile back she got real close to me during a slowdown.

I might have responded with "Let me show you just how right you are!"

Love my Connie. Full exhaust with Ivan's flash this thing flies ! Give a 1st gen stock Busa a run for the money except for top speed.

My Connie came with over 5K in upgrades including an Area P pipe and a Guhl flash that I didn't notice was already installed long before I bought it. I only discovered it one day when I was going through the folder with all the upgrades an original owner had bought for it. I was considering getting a flash from Steve in Florida at Shouldabeen Engineering. I couldn't pull the trigger on doing that because of how well the bike was already running. That is when I discovered the Guhl flash! lol ! I should have been paying attention. lol ! I also bought the Black Widow header pipe system for it but haven't installed it yet. I don't want to change anything with the way it runs now, The bottom end torque is excellent and it pulls hard all the way to redline. I just shift it at 9k anyway.... it's already moving right along at that level. The clutch action on these is the best I have ever experienced... so smooth and controllable. I might have killed the motor 2 or 3 times in 4 years. Don't know how many times I have taken off in 2nd gear when not paying attention... by the time I realize it... it doesn''t even matter... torque rules the day! lol ! I also got a single wheel trailer with it that was sold a couple years ago.

As far as giving a Gen 1 a run... hmmm... okay... Mine was running a pretty good last time I was on it.
