On the Gen I machines, the idle screw can back out occasionally. When the idle drops it can cause rough running, some hear a knock, etc. Unless you install the screw stop, you have to raise the tank and raise the idle back to 1200 to 1250 rpms. Or stick a long screw driver in there to turn it back up. I dont think you can adjust the idle on the Gen II's.
it's great for those of us who actually travel and ride year round...there's a lot of difference between riding on the Gulf Coast and up in the Rockies, riding when it's 5 degrees vs. 105 degrees...makes it nice to be able to adjust the idle when needed while just sitting at a stop light
Thanks for the write up. It took a while to find this but was worth it. I want to be able to turn mine up a bit at the track and this should make it easy. I have always wondered what the hole in the frame was for too.
