Gosh, I can't quite find words to describe this glorious occasion.!!
I just took a walk in my back field and found out I'm the proud father of a beautiful bouncing baby 4 inch Hickory tree..!!
I've been waiting for it to hatch since I planted the seed last fall. FINALLY..!!
Hickory trees are quite difficult to start from seed for some reason. Anyway, this will be my only Hickory out of 31 babies in the back field. Now I can only hope to live long enough to see my forest, even in it's beginning stages. I have 11 Walnut, 4 Chestnut, 2 Honey Locust, 1 Hickory, 2 Pin Oaks, 4 White Oaks, 2 Swamp White Oaks, 1 English Oak, 2 Red Oaks and 2 Bur Oaks.
