Im back from tha Great White North...

(bitabur @ Dec. 07 2006,05:43) From my previous experiences, I *know* jeeps are built to take that kind of stuff... I'm not so sure about durangos.  They probably share a lot from the mopar parts bin though.

If you hit the frame rail that hard on a rock I'm surprised you didn't put some kind of disfigurement into it.  Looks like fun though.

the truck handled all that without incident- the impact of the rock went to the front skidplate, I think; maybe the floorpan or something, but no dmg-I dropped it off at the stealership to get checked out (for fear I really DID bend something) today n all is well.

now Im looking to upgrade the trucks' suspension a bit for this type of fun-leaf springs r old n bad, gotta replace them anyway. so any tips on good shocks/struts to go with'em and a 4-6" lift?

I wanna build a nice lil Tonka truck

I couldn't tell ya, I haven't modified my jeep any from stock. You might try some jeep forums and ask around... if the mopar parts bin does indeed go as far as I think it does. I would guess that that series of durango shared underbodies with the grand cherokee.
