i finally motorvated and got the right side fairing out to the shop for sanding. welds are looking strong. im impressed with the harbor freight plastic welding kit (glorified soldering pen). going to follow up with some wetsanding and thin layers of some wonder putty my buddy said i should use and has yet to produce.
now im starting to think about paint. i wish i was more creative. i really like the blue, and have no urge to paint all my bike. i like the 08 blue and am thinking of some darker blue flames/tribal flames out the openings in the sides of the fairing.

i have a friend that does motoarmy's sticker wrap kits for thier bikes, i wonder if i could talk him into a cool kit for the Hayabusa.?.shure seems like an easy way to change the look of the bike without painting all of it.

link thread on how it started https://www.hayabusa.org/forum/general-bike-related-topics/124998-almost-made-3500mi.html

pics on how its going...:beerchug:

Looking good...

I was interested in the plastic soldering tool a while back but the fellas at Harbor Freight talked me out of it saying it was worth the money.

Can you show which unit you have and the price~?~

Got any close up pics of the "weld" job (front and/or back)~?~

You need to feather edge more. Otherwise it's gonna show an edge.

here a link to the tool, cheep thing, but it really worked well. sanded off the paint then welded it up, adding a little plastic rod. it gets hotter then whooie dont touch the tube..

+1, the Plastic welder from HF is great, your results look pretty good.

Cool, I'll end up getting one then...hate that they talked me out of it in the first place but you never know, someone probably had a bad experience with it and passed the infor along. Glad to know it worked for you~!~

Yep. I use an old soldering iron with a wide tip for welding plastic. Your repairs look good.
thank you.
i was nervous at first, but i do alot of welding steel so plastic wasnt much of a stretch. i'll post some pics when it gets back from paint.:beerchug:
