You are not alone, mind fell on me lucky while I was walking away from the bike.I thought I had the stand down but it was on a down hill grade and the bike just rolled enough to kick the sidestand up lucky I turned when I felt the weight of the bike on my body and caught the bike.I felt stupid cause I was in front of Taco Bell window and people looked at me like there's another dumb motorcyclist.Ride safe.

Anyone looking for a factory centerstand, $50.00 plus shipping. Only (1) availiable.
Going to be in the 70's tomorrow, time to ride . . .

Cellphoney, I learned many bikes ago about side stands on sport bikes and how easy they may fall over if you don't pay close attenion on how you park the bike. My advice is simple, park the bike up hill with the stearing turned and locked.( this keeps the little pricks that sit on your bike when your away from leaning it to the other side)also keep it in 1st gear and check the ground to ensure it's solid and the kick stand will not sink into the hot asphalt or soft mud. If you think it may find a can smash it and install it under the stand. Last look at the stand to ensure it's all the way forward. Good luck

Would Johnnycheese, Motorhead, or one of the other Busa doctors know if something as simple as a heavier spring would help cure the problem? Would also maybe help with the stand vibrating down from retract position and hitting safety switch someone here had problem with. Just a idea! Jack.

I hate to report on my first post that I also dropped my blue Busa but after reading some of your experiences ,I found some consulation in the fact that Suzuki has put a smalltime kickstand on a BIG TIME BIKE! To add insult to scratched paint, I only have 25 miles on HER. Living in mid-coast Maine the season starts late.
This Forum kicks *** -thanx

I don't get it! Does anyone park their manual transmission car in neutral without the parking brake. (Same as a motorcycle!!!)This seems like a dumb topic.

MY BIKE WAS IN GEAR/ THE LESSON LEARNED IS TO MAKE DAMN SURE YOU ROLL THE BIKE FORWORD AND DONT LET THE PEICE OF SHITE KICKSTAND TOUCH WHILE YOU DO IT OR ELSE THE WEAK SPRING WILL LET THE STAND MOVE AND THEN....CRASH..AND WHEN IT HAPPENS TO YOU...AND IT WILL..YOU WONT THINK IT IS SUCH A DUMB TOPIC!!!

RobBase, I guess the point being made here is that the Busa is different. Call me careless but prior to the Busa I had a dozen or so bikes that I always parked in neutral and never had one fall or even come close. With the Busa it happened when I was parked on a flat surface that just happened to have a slight ripple where the stand pad touched. That ripple was enough to cause the stand to retract.
Unlike a car most bikes can be safely parked on their sidestands in neutral, at least on relatively flat terrain. The Busa can't. (It can with my little mod.)

cell , it happened to me twice man . i installed sherms kit and it worked great.
ive since lowered my bike 3 inches and had to cut the stand down.
now i dont step off my bike untill i know its not goin anywhere and i sure dont park facing downhill

when mine went over , it was in 1st. I thought the chain was snug enuf...could be wrong i guess... and I'm not really sure how level that garage slab really is....hmm?

After reading about everybody's kickstand problems over the past year I bought Sherm's sidestand mod. $5 can save you $800. It works. Also I always park facing uphill, in gear and roll the bike against the gear too.

So far so good.

A rubber band makes an excellent front parking brake. You don't have to put in on too tight, just a little pull on the front lever and the bike won't go anywhere.

Cellphoney, I have a question I hope doesn't bring back your memories. What parts were damaged (all of them) when your bike fell? The reason I ask, is because my buddy dropped his pristine FZR1000 while tucking his pants under the boots, and amazingly, only the paint was damaged (not even a scratch) on one area of the fairing; not even the mirrors or bar ends touched. And I wondered what damage the busa will incur. It looks like it would be severely damaged.
Thanks. What's Sherm's mod anyway? I couldn't get to the URLs listed.

we cool RObBASE/I shouldnt have came off as a **** myself/ this is the first time I ever had one to fall off the stand myself and I am being too petty /it is only a man made replacable object/ not like a irreplaceble human/ but it stinks to have such a beautiful motorcycle tarnished by somethink like a sneaky sidestand!!! :)OH valklex.... scratched mirror scrathes all over left fairing/slight scratches and 1 goug in nose fairing/and last but not least the double bubble broke where the screw mounted it to the fairing!!!
