Interesting ride home

Took the usual bake way home from work today on the busa.  For those of you who did the lakeshore/valley of fire ride here last weekend, it's the first part of that right up to a turn off a few miles before calville bay.  The turn off comes out of the mountains right near nellis AFB.  Anyways as I passed the toll booth a few miles before hitting city limits I start to get on it a bit when suddenly I notice headlights in my mirrors gaining on me.  Not knowing who it was, I slow down a bit thinking it might be one of the ranger trucks (though, in retrospect those trucks don't have a prayer of a chance of gaining on me like that...I was moving along pretty good).  Not long after I slowed, the headlights gained and blew right by me!!....turned out to be someone having fun in their mercedes s600. Naturally, I had to follow as I was curious how fast it was going.  I have to tell you that I really had to get on it to catch up with this guy, he wasn't messing around!  finally at around 140 or so, I start to close the gap.....finally passing around 150 -ish.  Man, that car was fast as hell......there were a couple of times when I was closing in from behind where he'd start to pull away for a bit.  I'm not sure what prompted this impromptu race, but it sure was fun!  That's probably the closest I'll ever get to a $150,000 car!

i had one of those s65 amg want to play about a month ago god there fast. It has a twin turbo v-12. 604hp. he flew past about 110 then i taught him what a busa could do flew past him at like 140+

BTW....what did the ranger pull you guys over for?

"A little, I'm the boss around here and we have a speed limit talk"..........actually it was kind of funny.

First he got out of the truck like he was on a mission.  Then, he slipped one thumb in one front pocket and started trying to eyeball a bunch of leather-clad, "ain't got time to take off our helmet for ya types, but we'll lift our visors"....by the time he was done talking both thumbs were in both front pockets, and he was trying to keep his demeanor............ he seemed kind of young to be a ranger !!!!  That was all, we were finished with him....and BigO took the lead.

I work for Mercedes.
The fun is when we have an SLR come in. Top speed 208, but they are governed at 155. Full carbon fiber car - supercharged V-8 AMG - 617 horsepower, 0-60 in 3.8 seconds. $453K.

The SL65 is fun too. Twin turbo V-12 - 604 Horsepower. $187K

I'm a Mercedes guy, too. An 80's SL and a C car. Love em both. The SL600 is a dream car for me....some day....I would have loved to have been riding with you that day

Actually, triple digits were the norm with the front group for extended periods of time. Think of a very long train, not ever really, slowing down. By the time we hit the "Mr. Ranger" stop we'd already had as much fun as any Busa-Pilot could have had, but we did the guy a favor, that's why BigO took the lead and kept the train steady.

I'm figuring the day was a win-win........
