Interesting tire comparison!

In all seriousness, I would love to have seen a set of Shinkos included.

Nobody compairs their tires to shinkos, NOBODY!

Finding experienced people who are willing to try Shinkos seems to be a serious problem for Shinko! :dunno:

Then again, the review didn't include a Metzeler or Continental tire either

Glad to see! Those 4 sets of Q2's i've accumulated this year with all the sales are gonna come in handy!

Yesterday, I made my way to the track for a day with the 2_Fast crew. The handy weather man was predicting rain throughout the day. When I left my house at 4:45 there was a steady drizzle and already sloppy wet. I was dreading the thought of a rain soaked day, ugh!

I arrived at the track with a set of very shagged tires on my 1K, BT016 front that had over 3K street miles and a Race Takeoff Dunlop N-Tec rear. I was dreading the day knowing I would be cruising around the track in the wet on a set of shagged mismatched tire. However, these would be much better than the slicks.

By the time I reached the track an hour away the drizzle had ceased and I could actually see a break or two in the distant clouds. I took a fresh set of Q2's with me just in case. I ended up having the tire guy mount the Q2s as the track began to dry out and the thought of rain was still a reality. By 11:00 the track was bone dry and the day was a mild mid sixties overcast, perfect!

The Q2's and I had a really fun day of dancing and they did not disappoint me. The pavement was dry with good grip. I was out in the advanced group with a couple of the 2_Fast staff along with the owner, I was the only one on street tires. I had no problem hanging with those guys and what a fun time it was. I actually watched Mark (2_Fast owner) drag his elbow once in turn two on his N-tecs. What I can tell you is, if the Q2 is not enough tire for you, you are far more talented than me! The Q2's took everything I dished out with nary a complaint!

I have never been on a street tire that gave me what the Q2 gave me yesterday! Never even a sign of giving up. I think these tires are the closest thing to race tires you'll find with the title of "Street" attached to the name!

One thing I did learn yesterday while teching bikes, no two riders on michelins had the same answer when ask what cold pressure they used? We had bikes on pures, ones, pp's, pp2cts and I found it interesting that no two riders had the same numbers when it came to tire pressure. Strange!

the qualifiers i have on now...my rear is not going to give me any mileage...yes shure it sticks...but i dont want to pay almost 200 a month for the ride....back to shinko's i go...

Shinkos will serve you well Chris!

But then so would Dunlop Roadsmarts or Bridgestone BT023s. Lots of tires to choose from these days!

Just curious, were the answers even close~?~
What was the range of answers~?~

It seems there is a wide range of answers when it comes to tire pressure in michelins. I have long been aware that Michelins are exceptionally sensitive to tire pressure but OMG, I had guys starting at 28 psi all the way up to 42 psi for track operations.

I ask the dunlop guy and he said 31R - 34F cold, then I ask the Michelin guy and he says 35 psi both ends? So I still have no idea what to do with a michelin?

I feel good at 36 on mine f & r for street use, at least I'm right in the middle~!~

I know the Dunlops (haven't tried the new ones, different bike also) used to cup real bad on the front at lower pressures...

Thanks, I have been getting about 2000-2500mi Battle Axes and Perillis, I got 4000 on some Avon Storms. It's time for a set I guess I'll give the Q2's a try.

I am running my Q2s at the track at 31 hot, front and rear. I check them right before i take the warmers off.

I was running 31f 28r cold on mine and liked that. Never checked pressures after that and really had no complaints. Every so often I would have the rear step out a little here and there or push the front just a tad under hard braking but nothing too dramatic. When I switched to the NTEC 211s the bike seemed to turn much better, not sure if that was because of a geometry change or if I was just pushing the front every so slightly. Hmm think I'll go out and measure the tires after dinner...

I have a set of Avon Storms on my bike. I have done just about 21,000 k since they were put on July 3. Stilll going strong.

( That's 13,000 miles to you guys!)

31 is good for the rear but I try to hit 33 front (Hot). 31F is probably okay but it slows up tip in on my scooter!

What cold pressure do you start with?

ok Dunlop convinced me that Dunlop tires are the best choice... ??? How did that happen

I don't mind dunlop but there are a few others I prefer for myself.

Hey guys, just did the CODE school on monday,Dunlops are all he has used for 30 years.

In class he said 28,30 cold. The BMW and dunlops were pure MAGIC!
