Inusurance rape

I called USAA to see about adding the Busa, (next week or so) , they apparently now use Progressive. USAA previously quoted me $1,197 and now they are quoting $7,997 what gives?

My credit is dinged with this divorce, thats all I can think of happened. 37, immaculate record, prior military, prior cop, Senior Vice President of a well know Real Estate Company. If I can't get reasonable insurance, its a no go.

Ideas?

Holy crap ! That's got to be a mistake .

Shop around. If you have your car, homeowners and bike with one company they usually give you a better deal. I've got USAA for the car and house, but experienced the same response you got. I went with Dairyland and pay $650/year full coverage. I'm 30, married, former military, homeowner. Hope this helps. Again, shop around.

Allstate has quoted $1,197, which isn't too bad. I was thinking it was going to be around $650.00 or so. Heck, my Hummer was only $67.00 a month. I could understand more if I was 18, but I'm 37, married (only on paper) two kids, home, etc. This is still outragous.

Hunt, if you do a search for "insurance" here I think that you will find the majority of members went with State Farm. Keep looking!!

State Farm all the way. You will need to have a car insured through them for the best rates though. I'm 29 and single. I pay only $350 a year for full coverage.

Forgot to add. State Farm does thier rates by engine displacement not what type of bike it is.

State Farm, that is who i went with. I still have everything else with USAA cuz State Farm couldn't touch thier rates on my other autos and home. But i still got a decent rate on the busa, just maybe get a higher deductable on collision to save on the premium.

I just bought my '06 Busa and I also have a Honda VTX1300. Progressive was the best on the cruiser at $501/year but when I wanted to add the Busa they wanted $3500/year. Searched here on the forums a talked to some buddies and they all said State Farm. Got both bikes covered for $710/year but I did have to put my P/U truck w/ them b4 they'd write the motorcycle policy. State Farm is your best bet for sportbikes

+100.........I pay $31 PER MONTH

I use Liberty Mutual for the bike, cars (2) and house. The bike portion is $340/year for 100/300 with a $500 deductible. I am 34 with one speeding ticket, married, kid, house and good credit. They also base price mostly on cc of bike.

I know Allstate does still offer motorcycle insurance (in Ohio), because I heard bike specific commercials for the Ohio market on the radio today.

A lot of insurance companies don't want to insure sport bikes so they make it so high that they know you won't get it. Maybe that is why it jumped so high.

Call them back and find out why? That is way over what it should be even with a bad record.

another reason your rates are going through the roof is because your SINGLE now... rates are lower for married people. My brother just got divorced and low and behold the insurance company contacted him by mail say, we see your marital status change so we wanted to give you your new premium... which of course went up!

I'll tell you why, PROGRESSIVE SUX, THEY ARE PIRATES!  THEY ARE EVIL!

Oh and yeah your credit prolly got kicked in the Jimmy...

But Progressive is NOT the MOTORCYCLE INSURANCE COMPANY...  THEY ARE THE HARDLEY ABELSON Insurance Company.  If you're on some $30k POS Chug A LUG you can get killer rates through progressive.

State Farm, if USAA isn't working.  I am a USAA Member and have been for years.

Use State Farm. I wouldn't use Progressive if they were the only insurance company on the planet. Pirates, they are, to glom onto someone else's description of them above.
