I talked to Doyle again today while he was out on the road. Things do NOT sound good at all. He called a lawyer up there who said he just defended three cases very similar to Doyle’s, and lost every one of them. The judge in that area has a thing for bike riders it sounds like. In the three cases, the guys were all going slower than Doyle, but lost there license for 300 days. I repeat 300 days. Now for those of you that have been following, know that Doyle makes his living driving a truck with his wife…..this is not good. As it stands, he stands to lose everything he has worked for because of a little burst of speed that we have all done. Drunk drivers get off with much less than that.
He has contacted a lawyer that specializes in CDL cases and thinks he might be able to get the charges lessened due to hardship; he wants $1000 bones to get started. If anyone has been down this road before, any advice would be appreciated (Doyle is 40 something years old and knows he screwed up bad, he doesn’t need a lecture so if your going to flame him, hold it, he’s doing enough of that on his own) And that defense fund I set up as a joke could probably come in handy if anyone has any extra scratch for a good guy. He would be updating you guys himself but he’s out on the road 5 or 6 days a week so he is relaying the info through me. (He doesn’t know about the defense fund).
Next time you want to grab that throttle, think about it.
Ill keep you updated.
