is Busa the right bike? hello from potential Busa rider!

Mine is a GEN 1 Busa, I went with the full Muzzy for the deep low rumble. At idle its not too loud just a deep rumble that you can feel in the ground (its pretty cool but still not too loud). Then at high rpm's it keeps the deep sound but it does get loud :D

And I forgot to mention in my first message on page one my girlfriend loves riding we usually take 200 - 400 mile trips on saturdays when we don't work. She loves it and really doesn't get sore. I took her for a ride on my buddies 600RR after about 2 miles she was saying she hated it and wasn't comfortable at all, of course I didn't mind hearing praise towards the BUSA!!!!!

Something you may look in to about the weight, I am 5'9" 185lbs I lowered my Gen 1 an inch and a half in the rear and it seemed a little lighter and easier to rock side to side and alot easier to back up (short legs suck!!). May be different on a Gen 2 not sure. I lowered for the look I wasn't trying to change anything else but everything that changed was a plus. It is also a cheap MOD!!
Congrasts on the new Busa and the Gen 2 white is a very beautiful bike

As far as reliability I am in the process of replacing the fuel pump on my 2000 model. This is the 1ST & only thing that has ever failed. The bike will be 10 years old in December.

My Stepson loves riding 2 up, very comfortable.

Be careful it'll become your first bike.

hmmm, that's a bold suggestion, BusaWizard! :-) i am a hardcore MV follower. if Busa is 'that' good, then i would have to add that to my 'core family' of passions (and, i have got a few)!! i am gonna find out real soon!

cheers.

Check out Akrapovic, TiForce with 480mm cans, and Yoshimura R-77. Those are all good full systems without too much noise at low RPMs. I did a lot of research on youtube before deciding on TiForce. :beerchug:

thanks, dude. i will definitely check these out. this would be one of the items on the list during the winter!!

thanks, KvHotDog4. i will add Muzzy to the list of options suggested by ChattanoogaBusa. i like deep, base sound; but, bit low-key.

judging by yours and others' comments, the bike is definitely passenger-friendly, without diluting the sporty image. just what i want. as for the weight issue, i haven't ridden the bike. just sat on it; definitely felt the heft and the width. i was able to flat-foot completely, though i am only 5'8" with in-seam of 29"! yeah, it sucks being vertically-challenged, sometimes. but, i don't think i need to lower the height. i should be fine.

by the way, i haven't got it. but, very close to pulling the trigger. when that happens, of course, i will post with pictures!!

thanks.

that's very comforting, MPH 200! far cry from my MV experience (still, it's a 'family'). i suppose i shouldn't get that extended warranty they were pitching!

cheers.

thanks, robert. sounds pretty good.

Agree with all, the Busa can be made into a really sweet sport tourer...um, with attitude. That said, coming from an exotic, you'll have to do some small changes if you want a seamless transition. Raise the rear 1" with new bones, install braided lines, new pads like EBC HH's and seats, Torbin, Gel or Corbin. Really everything else is adjustable and is on the bike. Enjoy...it's crazy fast (when you're alone) or as docile as a Gold Wing with a passenger...and backed by the best owners group/org on the planet.

btucker, i think you pretty much reflected my reasoning to go with this bike. i wanted a sport tourer with more emphasize on 'sport' than 'tour'. for more touring biased rides, there are some pretty good bikes out there, including BMW K1300S. but, i found that the Busa perfectly matched my preferences. it strikes that perfect balance for a sport tourer. and, that 'attitude'! boy, i would love it!

my MV isn't going anywhere! ever! they would be perfect companions. (at some time, want to add a Duc in the mix) i am gonna go easy on the mods. need to get plenty of seat time in spring to decide some touring options without diluting the sporting character. i am making a list; will post up for validation.

i totally agree on the forum view! you guys rock! this is awesome group of people! i would be very glad to be part of and hang with the local (and, remote) guys!

cheers.

...yeah, I came from WERA superbike racing. No way was I going with a sport tourer that felt like half a car. Needed at least 3/4's of a sport bike's handling and all the power of what I'm use to. It really does deliver all that. If you get picky about weight and sound, you can drop almost 30lbs by going with a 4 into 1 setup. I would have had to spend 15k to get anywhere near that weight reduction on my racing bike. The sick thing is you can leave it stock and it's whisper quiet, but still a missle...oh yeah, get the de-restricting plug and play harness from Boost...because you can.

i don't think i am going to spend any resource trying to put the bike on a diet! one exception could be a set of slip-ons. and, what's the 'de-restricting plug-and-play'? for top speed de-restriction? if so, i wouldn't worry about it. will keep me out of the joint anyway! :-)

...no you can go to jail with the restricted model just as easily:laugh:
All the makers of got together some time ago and agreed to electronically restrict their fastest bikes to something like 186mph. Most did it by mapping the ECU in top gear to restrict the fuel and timing. The harness removes that mapping by fooling ECU into thinking it's still in 5th. and using the unrestricted mapping while in 6th. Lots of different schemes but that's basically it.

got it. thanks for the info. i am pretty conservative when it comes to triple-digit speeds! :-)
