is it in poor taste???

The only way to be a happy biker is to be a multi bike owner I own a BUSAand just got an FJR1300 sport tourer. My next bike is going to be a funky semi chopped custom cruiser and it will be fast.I guess what I'm saying is different bikes have different purposes.Ride what you like, the one thing I do know is there is NOTHING like a BUSA!NUFF SAID

I'm sorry, but I loathe cruisers.

I respect riders of all stripes, and wave at everyone on two wheels, but I just think the forward controls, chopped forks, and chromed-out bits are just dorky. Even my wife says she prefers a cruiser style bike because they look more like a bike "should," but I can't help thinking we've made some progress in the last -- oh -- 50 years or so.

As for fiddling with the 'Busa:

- Slam it and you loose ground clearance, which will rear its ugly head in turns when the suspension is compressed
- Stretch it and you work much harder to turn in
- Ditto for fatter rear tires
- Chopped forks increase trail and thus turn radius and reduce rigidity
- And chrome hates to get wet, and I ride year 'round ;)

The 'Busa is a great road bike in its stock configuration, even a bit ungainly by sportbike standards -- it just seems a shame to weaken its utility unless it really yields some gain for the owner (i.e., stretch it if you really take it to the strip a lot).

Need to have at least 2 bikes.
I own a 2001 Valkyrie Interstate for my cruiser itch. The Busa I bought about 3 months ago, for a "different taste"
With the Heli-bars the Busa is almost more comfortable than the Valk. and a lot faster in the twisties.
I got the Valk over any Harley, because, ..........well it runs circles around Harley.
The Valk is very quick and very torquie for a cruiser. Not a Busa, but a very fast and comfortable bike.
The Valk is a good change once in a while.
Oh, I also have a bandit 600, fun little bike.
Did an Ironbutt 1000 on it with my daughter. Great fun

Ride safe

Thanks guys...think I'll leave it as is and shop for a decent used custom....gotta be a bunch out there that the wanna be gang bought and decided it was too much work to be that cool...

I think I could get into cruisers if they made one like that Yamaha. That thing looks sweet! That thing could replace the Virago. Maybe they could call it the Viagra. :tounge:

Same here. The Busa is number one,but I like a bit of variety once in awhile.

I will say that the Valk is pretty wicked, even though I don't like how it's laid out -- I've seen some really cool mods for it. Awesome bike, considering how big it is.

Before I bought the busa I was seriously considering a custom bike.
The reasons I didnt buy one:
a. I like to eat up twisties
b. Was a lot more ($36,000)
c. I used to drag my Sabre 1100 and a chopper is A LOT LOWER
d. I like to ride on avg 300 mi and didnt think would be comfortable that far
e. To get the power that I wanted out of one was going to take one heck of a motor. ie: the new 145ci from S&S

Would still love to have one, but I want a new truck first ;)
You get looks on a busa, but you get KILLER looks on a chopper(my cousin has a custom bike shop and we went for a cruise)

Here's a cruiser I saw at the Love Ride this last weekend.

That's the bike I showed my husband when I was beginning to stray from my Harley...I know, I know...it was way more than I'd ever need, and it was only being sold as a set (4 or 5 bikes in the group) for more than I can afford, but the looks were different...sort of a cruiser with a sport bike feel...

But, the Busa filled all needs I had...never looking back toward getting a Harley, and if my husband gets his wish and ever gets a custom chopper, I doubt I'll be fighting him over it...

Nothing wrong with having both though, if that's what you want! :)

I agree with the two bike scene also.

02 busa

97 CR500

The best of street & dirt!

P.S. the CR has the same power to weight as the Busa!

Dis one right hurr in black or silver with just enough graphics to make it unique would trip my trigger as a nesting mate for the busa. ;)

Hey.... did you happen to see the other three 145 tribute bikes?? They are sweet, especially those 145ci S&S motors.
"rear wheel dyno results" "superflow cycledyn chassis dynamometer"
186@5700 Max HP
183@4900 Max Torque

Those are some sick numbers
