Is this normal?

I have 3000 miles on my Gen 3 and notice what appears to be oil burned on the exhaust behind the shift lever. I never noticed this on my Gen 2s in the past.

That’s just the exhaust cover. Give it a solid clean and see where it’s coming from next. Looks to dark to be oil so my guess would be chain gunk combined with road funk.

So, failing front brakes, engines being hard to restart...and now oil leaking at the stator.
Geez Suzuki, what's next?
This would be pretty awful for a gsxr250...but the Busa...
All gens had cases of the stator leaking where the wires come thru the stator cover and honestly I see it on all makes of bikes quite often in my shop. I usually add a little of my preferred rtv (dirko) at the inside of the of the grommet of I'm in there doing anything.

...that's not the point

right. my gen 1 never leaked at all. dealer is still screwing with the suzuki rep, they just wont replace the stator. i even had to troubleshoot where the leak is coming from and send them pictures to prove its leaking from the harness. you drop almost 20k on a bike and they bobo around with replacing a 200 dollar part. its been going on for almost a month now. suzuki rep wanted to know how many miles i had on it. what difference does it make.. should have just fixed it myself.

If it's the stater cover gasket, would it not be cheaper to buy or get a gasket from your dealer, get some Suzuki bond, or ultra black silicone from your local parts store?. Clean the parts, clean the rubber bushing, put a small bead all the way around the rubber harness bushing, coat your gasket with a thin film all the way around, and reinstall ?. 10-11 Newton meters is the torque spec.

Just thoughts.

I have a spare stator gasket. Send me an address and I'll mail it to you.

hey spudley, yes I had replaced the gasket already before i went to the dealer. i didn't seal it with rtv tho, didn't want to do too much so they can claim i caused the issue. the dealer did apply gasket seal around the entire cover and rubber seal. they claimed at that point it was fixed, they couldn't get it to leak after riding it and idling for a while. Started leaking for me after 15 minutes of riding.

Dealer called me yesterday, they are going to order and replace the stator under warranty. Says only one stator in the country, lol. ill drop it off next Saturday and see what happens.
